is there a fuse in the Head unit? at the back.

who did the wiring? were they soldered?

have you done a white noise test with an AA battery to see if the speakers are fine?

do you smell burning from the amps?

are the amps on??

is there a fuse in the Head unit? at the back. Yes there is, it is ok.

who did the wiring? were they soldered? Wired by WOW & JB HiFi back in Brisbane. I'm now in the ACT.

have you done a white noise test with an AA battery to see if the speakers are fine? I haven't tried that, will give it a go on my days off this week.

do you smell burning from the amps? My sense of smell is very bad so no.

are the amps on?? I think they are. How can I tell?

the light colour. i think theres a different light to say its overheated and the amp switches off to cool down. its happened to during audio shows n stuff.

have you checked the fuses on the amp?

honestly check the wiring behind the unit. i dont know if its the same everywhere but i had to pull my mates DVD player out of his car becuase JB botched the job.. didnt solder and isolate the wires. it just stopped working one day..

and besure to check the speakers with a double A battery, just dont keep it going for too long.

Does the head unit stay on or does that switch off too?

once you've checked the above, its time to start pulling apart the amps if all that is ok.. also check the RCA and power cables going into the amp.

i Solder the ends so it doesnt flare out in the connection socket

I'll have a look at the amp lights tomorrow, about to head off to work for the night.

The amp fuses were not blown.

The head unit stays on, plays tracks on my iPod which hooks up via USB. Just no sound.

The amp RCAs & power cables looked ok, I'll have a better look on my days off. The two amps are under each front seat. The 4 ch runs the speakers, 2 ch runs the sub.

with the AA battery test the speakers will make a big BRRRRRZZZZ, as said before like white noise but very loud and scared the shit outta me the first time haha.

also, i have had issues with RCA's shitting themselves in the past and swapping things around like head decks and speakers with no result so its one to look out for.

also anything problem ive seen, a mate took it apon themself to fit his own stereo and said he wired it all right and the track said it was playing but there was no sound. so i pulled the head eck out and the remote wire from the deck to the amp wasnt connected so check the isnt a break in the wire as it is the smallest wire going to the amp

I'll have a look at that today. I now also have my turbo timer turning off & back on randomly as I drive. Good times!!

The problem lay with the fuse in the engine bay that the positive power from the battery flows through to the amps. The fuse in it was loose, therefore no power was getting through. Warren at DBL Car Stereo in Fyshwick identified the fault for me, only set me back $20 for a new fuse holder.

Chris, thank you for sending me to see Warren. He was very helpful, and said to say hi to you.

Thank you everyone for your help. It is so good having tunes again.
