Im on my P plates 18 going on 19 in WA and have a R34 GT-T coupe, im thinking of trading it in for a 32GTR (My all time favorite car) I mostly drive very cautiously follow the speed limit ect ect. It's only at that -right time, right place- I might give it a bit of boot. Otherwise I don't see a lot of P platers with Skylines in WA maybe it's just me.

Ive had the 34 since febuary got my license in June lol. So I wasn't able to drive it until recently. Great car but Im gonna see what the 32 is like it's a complete stocker with 130k on the clock. It's magnificent and cheap too. 18,999. Ill get 14-15k on trade for my skyline straight up. So ill only owe them a couple and theres a bit of paint damage so ill knock a few off that too.

Anyways! It's all good lol :)

Younger blokes I work with are like omg skyline nice car mate! I enjoy the car it drives well it goes well and it doesn't leave me bleeding out the... you get the picture on fuel.

Bought a Skyline because I kinda liked my S14 but I broke a gearbox when I owned one (only 190rwkw). That and I didn't think the front end was all that rigid. Considered an S15, but again.....I'd break the gearbox and they were pretty small.

Apart from the there was the series 7/8 RX7, but I do too many km for that.

Didn't want to spend more than 20k (4 years) ago so performance Euro stuff was WAYYYY out of the question.

p.s. I'm allergic to front wheel drive.

anyway, I liked the idea of a more cruisy car than the s-series plus the motor is less stressed and a bit more lazy but wakes up with some throttle. Virtual bullet proof driveline and pure RWD is nice. Can't say I aspire to any newer cars but if I could I would like to midify a FG XR6 turbo (but I'd probably hate the stupid cheap crap that broke on it).

But yep, Skylines have a bad image. Then again, people tend to let you in, don't cut you off so much, rarely complain or beep and very rarely tailgate (compared to driving typical cars).

well said, this and the fact that the missus really didnt like the look of a soarer or supra is why i got a liner :)

26, male, got my R33 GTS T for a few reasons, 1. i have always wanted a skyline, my dream car is the R34 GT R V-Spec series II, but funds would only allow my the GTS T, which i'm not complaining about, 2. had a pulsar that i was doing up and found that it was a lot cheaper to go and get the skyline with the money i saved then to spend it on the pulsar then have to spend more to get it running.

over all i have always wanted one and finally got one, i have never thought of skyline drivers as hoons or tools, this belongs to commodores and felcons, i have always adminerred skylines and have always been envies of them

26 male from newy

ive always been more into nice cars than just on paticular type

and until recently have only owned v8 s mostly vl commys but

there was a vp grp A in there some where all nice fast cars

i always loved lines but just never bought one

it wasnt til my sister bought one that i ever really been in or drove one

needless to say a week after driving her car back from sydney

the vl calais was sold and there was a silver s1.5 33 in my garage

Im a 43 year old bloke. . .been fiddling with cars since i was 17, got my 1st turbo car in feb this year(R32 GTS-T RB20DET auto) and have never looked back, the skylines have a capable chassis from the factory , plenty of grunt to boot, cheap n easy to modify

Hey there,

I am male, 18 (19 in a few days) and a few months back i brought an R35 GT-T for $14,500. It has a custom exhaust, pioneer sound system, semi-automatic and beats my brothers non turbo supra :P

So far i have just been driving it on the weekends because i aint leaving it at the train station. Cops havent pulled me over at all and hope they wont in the future.

I am not a hoon or anything like that, i just love the car and driving in it is nice and smooth, plus the looks you get just make it all that much sweeter.

Male, 25 years old.

Started with a 1983 910 series Datsun Bluebird (hand-me-down) and used as a daily - but has now been retired for restoration.

Bought an R34 sedan, always wanted a skyline since I was a kid, had no idea the difference between a GTR and a regular Skyline - watching the Bathhurst Skylines destroy the Fords and Holdens. Bought a sedan out of need vs. want, coupe would have been the best. I was actually tossing up between a commodore and a skyline coupe..... Ended up with something that's a cross of both cars. Still drive it till this day as a weekender/sunny day car.

Had a lightly modded Alfa159 Q4 for 6 months - nice car - but 1st to 2nd gear changes was cluncky, drank lots of fuel and I didn't feel "at one" with the car.

Currently driving an IS200 as an daily, nimble and very comfortable - but slow.

male 20

first car was an r31 which i turbo'd haha was awesome fun the up graded to a r32gtr dont think i will even own anything other than skylines my gtr is my baby been off the road for 8 months now im getting a bit deppressed about it

If you want a 32R thats a super clean stocky, this one is good.. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/378097-r32-gtr-skyline/

Seen it in person - my mates car.

Also, I was on L plates with a R33 GTS, R32 GTS4, R33 GTR Vspec

Then P plates with

Same R33 GTR V-spec, R32 GTR & a R32 GTR... lol

Just old now :(

Hey, 17 year old male.

Bought my widebody r33 skyline gtst about 3 months ago back in NZ.

Since, moved to Brisbane, had to leave the liner back home and is up for sale.

i know im a teen, but personally i agree that teens should NOT own a turbo rwd,

reasons why;

1. in the first week of owning my liner i blew 3 pairs of tyres off the back

2. when first buying i learn't even though i only had 200kw it still loved to

swing the ass end out, wet or dry.

3. FAR too many liners in NZ are owned by teens, then wrapped around

the power pole a week later.

but in saying that, in the short time i owned it, i definitely grew up.

i learn't what my car could do, what it could handle and im able to

apply my knowledge to any car i drive, turbo or N/A.

Personally i will always be a import enthusiast no matter how young or old i am.

    • Hi all   what short shifter do you use on your skykine r34?   my synchronous does have a problem and i was getting huge delay and grinding sound between 2nd and 3rd, did put shockproof red heavy stuff and it is great now/ no issues   would in your view short shifter screw this up?   people seems to suggest/ use cube short shifter and there is standard and premium. Seen review of premium as much better and less play. Thoughts?
    • Yeah, there's a bit of a density and friability difference between pebbles and any of those other things. Silicone will definitely float in oil and so will be mobile enough to move around. Although, again, if it is upstream of the filter it really shouldn't go any further. I would only ever worry about silicone when it is in places downstream of the filter. Upstream of the pickup is a whole 'nother matter. We've all seen what that does. I have seen the most abominable crap settled out in industrial gearboxes, trunnion lube systems and the like, without any sign that any of it has touched anything in the machine. Just chilling in the bottom, waiting for the inevitable operator error that causes the whole machine to need to be dismantled for repairs.
    • I have seen enough fire and brimstone from TSBs about roloc disks causing spun bearings that foreign object contamination is top of mind for me. For sufficiently large particles you might be right but usually it’s a distribution of debris and some of the larger particles can also break down and shed bits. If local shops report RTV contamination in a turbo is enough to wreck them I’m taking zero chances if I can help it.
