handbrake light comes on for some b/s reason

ok ive noticed lately somtimes evn when nthe ahdnbrake is off the light comes on, and when i boot it real hard it goes away, but sometimes when its off and i boot it it comes on

any suggestions ? my brakes are really low, is this some kind of warning thingy ?

I'd say your brake fluid is low - I think it uses the handbrake light as a warning light, and if your pads are low then it makes sense that your fluid is low too...

Have a quick look under the hood, you'll see it straight away if it's the fluid.

nothing to do with the electrical switch on the handbrake lever that lights the dash light when the handbrake is up?

nah dont listen to them, ur car was an ex drifter, this light comes on cos ur handbrake setup had been changed and some wires may still be loose from when they changed it bak

dj> i don't think it has anything to do with the fluids

just check that your brake light is not playing up or broken... i've had this prob before with other cars and it's to do with the brake light.

It's the brake fluid level dude, like Jay said. I had the exact same problem. Solution is to change brake pads and flush brake fluid.
