hi guys,

just a nooby question as I am new to GTRs,

I am going to buy a R34GTR (after I sell my EVO X MR) but got a bit confuse between the Standard and VSPEC and VSPEC II, I have try to search the forum and google it, the information I got is all over the places so can some guru please tell me the major difference between the 3 ??

much appreciate it for any input !!

wen

All three have the same power output whilst stock.

V-Spec over Standard GT-R has

* front splitter and diffuser

* rear carbon diffuser

* lower stiffer suspension

* exhaust temp and intake temp sensors shown on mfd (additional info thanks to wedge_r34gtr)

* ATTESA E-TS Pro + active LSD at rear (additional info thanks to thatlbeme aka Ian)

V-Spec II over V-Spec has

* aluminium pedals

* brake upgrade on rear

* carbon bonnet with naca duct

* slightly darker iridium console

* black door trim and seats with white stitching (instead of red)

* more stiff suspension (additional info thanks to wedge_r34gtr)

* clear front indicators (additional info thanks to wedge_r34gtr)

Added a few things to the list.

V-Spec over Standard GT-R has

* front splitter and diffuser

* rear carbon diffuser

* lower stiffer suspension

* Additonal sensors on mfd

V-Spec II over V-Spec has

* aluminium pedals

* brake upgrade on rear

* carbon bonnet with naca duct

* slightly darker iridium console

* black door trim and seats with white stitching (instead of red)

* stiffer suspension again

* white front indicators

Just wanted to add 1 more to the list, Like the R33, the new R34 GT-R V-Spec (Victory Specification) models come equipped with the ATTESA E-TS Pro system and an Active LSD at the rear, while standard GT-R models come with the non-Pro system and a conventional mechanical differential.

I have seen some GTR post 2000 onward come with black interior that does not mean its a VSPEC II though.

I rang up the dude and he told me its a standard R34 (Non VSPEC or VSPEC II)

is there any obvious thing u can tell beside the cosmetics??

why the hell the VSPEC II is much more than the VSPEC and how much would I be expecting to pay extra for VSPEC II on top of VSPEC ??

thanks heaps guys

i bet your lookin at that black gtr is melb? 01 gtr. i didnt know they came in non vspecs either. but its a fully optioned gtr non vspec. i seen it. drove unbeleivable. very quick (has been boosted) however front end fixed, acid rain on roof on slight rust around rear brake light

Sorry to bump an old thread, just wondering if anyone had some decent comparison shots between a stock 34 GTR & a V-Spec (and maybe VSii). Still can't tell the difference :P

Also, are the upgraded attessa & active diff decent upgrade from the original?

Reason I ask is that I may be interested in buying a '34, but not sure if the VSpec badge is worth the added price of admission.

Visually they are very similar but to the trained eyes, they can tell the difference.

The slight differences are, in addition to what's been listed above in the thread:

Base Model R34 GTR vs V-Spec:

- Had a firmer suspension = Lower ground clearance (But still sits quite high)

- Front and Rear Carbon Fiber Diffusers.

V-Spec vs V-Spec II:

- Equipped same to the V-Spec but:

- Had an even more firmer suspension = More lower ground clearance (But still sits quite high)

- Carbon Fiber Bonnet with NACA Duct

- Larger in diametre in rear brake rotors.

Interior trims slightly varied from all three models along with the MFD.

Base Model had 7 different readings and the V-Spec / V-Spec II have 2 extra readings of Intake and Exhaust Temp readings.

Base model R34 GTR came with the ATTESA E-TS.

V-Spec / V-Spec II came with the ATTESA E-TS Pro System: It acts the same as the Base Model but has the capability to split the torque from left to right at the rear wheels.

The differences are subtle and not really worth the extra thousands of dollars if you plan on modifying the car.

Or you can just buy the Base Model and add on the carbon fiber parts later / upgrade brake rotors and suspension etc...

Thanks for clearing that up, so cosmetically it's basically diffusers and the bonnet.

Yeah that's about it.

Along with indicator lens colour / interior trim colour / Aluminium pedals / 2 extra MFD readings.

Nothing too special, but minor changes to make it a V-Spec / V-Spec II.

    • I did not go to GTR Festival. It's quite a long drive and the car wasn't dialed in yet. I also wanted to see how the racing portion went before going. From what I can tell the classes were not heads up, index, or bracket - just whoever has the quickest ET wins. Never heard of that sort of thing before and maybe some people like it but it's not my cup of tea. I don't suspect I'll go if that is how the racing is done. I did get the car out three times and had issues each time. Some were my error - haven't raced the car in over two years - and others were parts. Had trouble getting the clutch to slip correctly and remembering how it was set up in the Haltech. Broke some drivetrain parts as well that couldn't be fixed in a couple days to get back out. Season definitely didn't end the way I wanted but at least the bearings are still fine! Not a fleck of material in the filter. Really hoping next year is the year I can actually test this car properly.
    • find it funny everyone claims different fuel chains, do different things with their fuel blah blah blah. We don't have that many fuel terminals in Australia. The fuel tanker trucks drive into the terminal, fill up, and drive directly to the service station and dump out. The majority of fuel you get, is coming out of the same terminals. The variation is actually at the individual service stations and how good their tanks are, as well as how much turn over they actually have. Older fuel stations, that haven't had their tanks replaced are going to end up with the worst fuel. Also a lot of older stations have shit design, and shit maintenance, and end up with more water absorption into the tank. This is when you then get a bad batch of fuel. Other shit things happen, like tanker drivers have a f**k up, and starting to unload the wrong compartment on their truck into the wrong tank.
    • Yeah go with that one
    • This one?? In other news: I cannot tell the difference between my red MX5 with the silver grey hard top......... and the Ferrari 599XX EVO, they might as well be twins, well.......apart from the big wang hanging off the back of the Ferrari...🤔🤣, without the wing they are identical
