shotpointblank
sorry if this has been asked before but couldnt find anything.. got a rs4-s series 2 stagea. was talking to the tuner and he recommands tuning car in rwd mode (takin front shafts out).. but i wanna run car in awd all the time.. tuning the car in rwd mode, will this make car uneven and have poor performance if i was too put shafts back in after the tune? coz car has been tuned in rwd?? thanks again guys.. lilcrash
I'm not a professional at this subject but my understanding is tuning is done at load points/rpm/throttle position so taking the shaft out shouldn't affect it that much as your tuning the engine not the driveline, I'm open to corrections but that's how I understand it. RS4-S
wouldnt the front shaft and front diff be extra load? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/364716-tuning-car-in-rwd/#findComment-5819112 Share on other sites
260tech
Wont do any harm at all, just get higher hp reading in rwd vs awd is all. As you know the removal of front driveshaft is only a temporary measure for getting the car on the dyno & awd is re-instated as soon as testing is complete. Pretty common to do this if tuner only has access to 2wd dyno or 4wd dyno shagged/unable to handle power output of vehicle being tested. The latter case was exactly what happened with my car at Garage Tenagah when it was being done. That was ages ago now & I have had no problems. Car is great. (Gearbox not so happy atmo however..nuthin to do with tune, more to do with my drivin) Cheers GW Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/364716-tuning-car-in-rwd/#findComment-5819184 Share on other sites
Raysboostin
you shouldnt have any problems. if your really worried about it, find a dyno shop with a 4wd dyno Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/364716-tuning-car-in-rwd/#findComment-5819353 Share on other sites

mattye
The only prob will simple disabling it electronicaly is that if something malfunctions u could end up with ur car spearing off the front of the dyno. Has happened before. JUST A HEADS UP. Much safer to simply pull the front shaft Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/364716-tuning-car-in-rwd/#findComment-5822204 Share on other sites
