My exhaust is totaly diff to both of thoes i have what appears to be a single pipe leading into a "large box shaped device" (assuming this is the muffler as i have NFI) and then splits out of that to the 2 tips i think there is a cat on the single pipe to.

The single pipe and centre muffler are way behind the centre of the car. The parts we are talking about come off the exhaust manifolds then connect to a Y-pipe, which then goes into the single pipe. You HAVE to have 2 outlets from the engine, as the car is a V6 :)

Nice work man.. looks the Biz.

Where did you guys get your Megan Pipe from? I'm doing my research to see where is the cheapest to get it from considering shipping will probably be a killer!!

Any luck withe cats hitting the heat shield?

I am pretty sure I have this one - it is actually a Megan Racing copy

From memory the shipping was cheaper when I got it, so you might want to query the shipping rate.

Andrew at AM Performance ended up having to cut the passenger side Kinetix hfc in 2 places to get it to fit perfectly. Cost me $120 as it required removing the hfc and refitting a couple of times as well as the cuts and mig welding. Was spewing i didn't fork out the extra $200 or so for the titanium hfcs of another brand in the end. I emailed the US seller to tell him that the Kinetic hfcs do not fit properly and I am pissed off about it, but he didn't even take the time out to reply. Bolt-on my ass.

I also had a custom 3" mid-pipe made to replace the stock resonator piece and fitted a 3" Apexi ECV. But it turned out to be way too loud and raspy when full open. Then I did a country trip and somehow managed to tap the Apexi ecv on the driveshaft at decent rpm just hard enough to smash the ECV and ruin it. I subsequently pulled off the ECV and have now had Andrew fit a high flow resonator to the 3" mid pipe - it is now nearly silent at idle, but has a very healthy growl when I hit the loud pedal. Very happy with how it turned out.

Now I need to get some fat quad titanium rear pipes fitted to fill out the rear bar I have fitted - as the single pipe looks all lonely in the gaping hole around it on each side at the rear.

Wow.. you have had a Judas of a time haven't you!!

Still considering to get the Megan Y Pipe and now getting the Berk HCS's.. was going to get just the Y pipe and get a local exhaust shop to mock up some High Flow cats to suit however this may work out cheaper.. I was going to go 3" Hi flow but don't want to shift the power band too high seeing as I will run standard cams so will probably do this:

Standard Headers > 2.5" Berk HFC's> Megan Y Pipe (2.5inch inlet to 3 inch outlet)> Connect to my Fujitusbo Legalis (which I believe is 3" all the way.. will look up specs and measure my self).

I was considering the Fujitsubo Y Pipe but seems to be same specs as the Megan and the Megan is cheaper.

Just doing some quick research.. The Fujitsubo I have appears to be a 60.5mm (almost 2.5inch) to the resonator than 76.3mm (3inch to the muffler.)

My gripe is that the Megan Y Pipe is 2.5 converging to 3inches. This wouldn't be good as it will go 2.5inch to 3 to 2.5 to 3inch which will do wonders for flow!!

I have seen people online mating them up and not having a problem however don't want to restrict flow so may go around exhaust shops to see how much to cut the Fujitusbo resonator and put a 3inch inlet/outlet and possibly either making a Y Pipe or ordering the Megan and getting them to put it on.

I got a quote for around $850 for the Megan Y Pipe and Berk Delivered to Brisbane.

Thoughts? :action-smiley-069:

Hey NightCrawler,

Before you had a 3" mid pipe/resonator put in.. Was the mid pipe 2.5" inch to 3"?

Was there much of a difference?

Ideally larger would be better for top end though don't want to shift the powerband too high as I will have standard cams.

Spoke to Mick at Pipewerx. Awesome guy and have had him work on my previous cars and has always been straight up.

I was questioning him on whether it would be better to cut the current Fujitsubo Mid pipe and put a 3" OR leave it as it is and put the Megan Y pipe and his response was on the standard N/A specs.. Won't make a massive difference.

Obviously Top end would be better though not really redlining every shift lol.

He said I think it was the VY or VE SS that he said had 2.5" to 2.25" back to 2.5" which apperently on the Dyno gave the better mid range.

So am thinking of doing it and maybe changing it down the track.

Just don't want to effect flow by restricting though haven't heard any complaints byt the G35 boys.

May get him to fit (cbf as don't have a hoist) it (he didn't mind.. Could of said otherwise about the mid pipe).

I noticed the Fujitsubo Y pipe was the same so prob done to keep some mid range power.

To be honest I didn't notice any benefit in fitting the mid-pipe, but I did many things at the same time (which gave an overall benefit). Keep in mind too that the pipe from the axle-back section into my rear muffler is definitely 2.5", so that is the restrictive part.

But I am more than happy with it, and made 175rwkw on a VERY conservative Mainline dyno. And my V35 is an auto. And it is untuned as yet.

So the answer is, just keep your setup with the 2.5" in place - you really don't need 3" on a non-turbo car imho.

FYI when I finally got round to wiring up my SAFCII and getting Martin Donnon from Willall Racing to tune it, I got 183rwkw - not bad from an auto!

Well done old bean...

I installed BERK HFC's and love the response. The rasp takes a while to get used to. Even with the Fujitsubo it is there. Thinking of adding a resonator in between somewhere. Good Stuff though man. :-)

Yes mate, the passenger side one touched the heat shielding on the bottom of the car - had to pay $120 to get AM Performance to fix it.

Also of note is that when I pulled off the HFCs a couple of months ago to do some exhaust work (flexi joint on the cheap y-pipe broke and had to be replaced) the guts was gone out of one of the cats - so was just a shell in around 40,000km. Not great quality, as it turns out.

thanks mate, looks like I won't be getting the kinetix then...

How much for Nissan front grill? I'm wanting to do a full conversion from my US model(Infiniti) to the skyline Japan model(Nissan).

Some one might want to do a full swap with you. Maybe start a new tread
