A crazy new implementation from Minister for Transport, Pat Conlon, will see motorists charged a $120 fine for minor defects, and $250 fine for major defects, on top of the fees for clearing the defect notice.

That is honest to God totally f**ked. In other words, if they don't like you... be prepared for a fine; not sure about others but if they looked hard enough they can find a defect of some sort.

If this gets out of control I can see myself not registering my car.

Yeah no joke man this is bullshit. A cop can just defect you for suspicion of being detectable even if its not. There is no point on even driving even a slightly modified car. eg having a pod filter or even just having a seat belt which doesn't retract properly.

It's pretty much giving SA pol smokers the right to f**k you over if they feel like it...

99% of defects I see are given under Suspicion...

Without actually any hard proof of damage/defect....

What happened to innocent til proven guilty ?

Makes me so glad I don't own a street rego car anymore

Not worth it in communist SA.

A firm f**k you to SA government.

More importantly where the f**k in Adelaide can I quarter mile test my car in controlled conditions?I have no way to explore my interests in my vehicles capability, and the stigma behind modified cars on the road highlights an obvious need for a full scale facility. Higher fines, double demerits and other scare tactics seem to be the only efforts the authorities are implicating, but there is still no evidence that any revenue from SAPOL has been utilized to fix our roads, provide better learner driver training, drink driving rehabilitation, fatigue management (these being things I myself would focus on) Meanwhile, even though I consider myself to be a curteous

And they keep saying they do this kind of stuff to make roads safer. Total BS if you ask me, revenue raising at its most blatant.

Makes me AAAHHHRRR!

well after completely f**king up the budget in getting Adelaide oval revamped, they need to recover the extra money spent somehow. To be totally honest this government is making things in this state worse and worse by the day, yet i don't f**king see the roads getting any better. Soon you will get fined for sneezing in the car. Arrrgh this state government is frustrating me every time they open their big flaps arrrgh

Lol, and rego fees going up as of 1st July.....

So there saving money on not sending out stickers,

But feel the need to raise renewal fees due to " 3rd party insurance going up 2.5%"

Cash grab much

On top of carbon tax that will be passed onto consumers

Water rates going up

Petrol prices

Food prices

Yet our pay stays the same....

See ya later luxury items

    • Interesting. My tuner said after the tune that my fuel economy would be better but it is the exact same from what I could tell even though my car was running rich before lol. How much do km do you reckon you get on a full tank of petrol on your commute?
    • A little follow up here on the ceramic coating.  We've had storms galore here and I've done a few ks, enough to gross them up  Consensus is that they didn't get as dirty as usual, the coating definitely repelled a little of the dirt and I think they kinda snowball. They get a little dirty and then they get dirty faster which makes sense. Cleaning them regularly would allow them to protect better.  Cleaning was a breeze. I tried first to just hose them off which, unsurprisingly, did nothing. But, making the wheels wet and then just wiping them over with a used but clean microfibre cloth was all that was required. I didn't need any cleaner at all, just water and a cloth. The wheels look amazing again.
    • Gave her a nice wash today and took extra time to clean off the tree sap and tar and crap. We have a usable garage now so she'll stay cleaner longer. Took a few snaps in some nice light afterwards.
    • OK, solid mount Z1 diff brace is in, pretty straightforward, it picks up 3 diff hat bolts and ties them to 2 support bolts on the subframe. Pretty sure someone else on here said they had reduced axle tramp with this but mine was already pretty good for smooth wheelspin, and still is....will see you this goes over time and whether I end up with a broken rear diff hat
    • Ah yes, but the part in my hand was actually painted and fitted by me! I knew any front lip was likely to be sacrificial but I've had to fix it twice already... by the time I buy a fibreglass fixing kit, sort out sandpaper blocks, buy some fibreglass filler, body bog, spend the time and effort for a 'Greg' result... a new one being $290 seems like it's the better way to go and spray that with bedliner/raptor coat and we're all pretty again.. Would have preferred it last more than a month though. Them's the breaks I suppose.
