Ok so I've attempted to make a 3inch intake pipe to suit a pod filter, turns out not such a good idea, I either have to buy an Apexi filter or have another atemp at finding tighter mandrel bends :/. I was trying to limit welds but I might have to admit defeat and weld 4/5 bends together to get the right shape to use the stock air box.

Just had mine installed, instructions are at:

Please make sure the rubber hose used for drain pipe does not kink or bend under heat, if you can't get that nice bend then you can cut up the stock drain pipe and join it up to the drain adaptor.

intake pipe for the SS-1 you can make it with 2x 45 degrees silicon hose with a bit of straight steel pipe like that:

You can post up in my thread or PM me if additional information is required.

My oil drain is a solid custom bent pipe with a rubber joiner on each end so im pretty sure it can't kink.

I'm going to buy some more pipe tonight and try again. Steel pipe is about 1/4 the price of silicon hose so I would prefer to make a full steel intake if I can.

What oil does everyone recommend. I hope people look in here I didn't want to start a new thread. I've always used penrite but people on here said not to use it. Also. How many liters of coolant do I need?

For big power its recommended to run a group 4 or 5 oil. Not sure what the Penrite synthetics are like, I use Gulf western Sougi 6000, most will say Motul 300v if you have the coin. Look in the oils thread, performance section for more info.

I would do lobster bends for the intake mate. :)

Just get "Motul Turbo light". I'm using this for all of my cars. worked great. once turbo installed, start and let the car to idle for 2 mints, then go for a drive, I don't mind if you drive it hard (harder the better), you will find it slightly less responsive for the first 1KMs then that small drag goes away (from thick oil used to stabilize shaft and bearings on assembly).

Also if you have oil residual from previous turbo you might want to let it burn off or clean it if necessary.

Try royal purple 10w40, motul, gulf western, all have group 4 and 5 oils and are available at autobarn. They may have to order them in if they are too tight to have it on the shelf. Have you tried Harold at performancelub?

Here is some redline group 5 from his ebay page... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/REDLINE-Engine-Oil-10w40-Cheapest-enquire-/180636855989?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a0ecbaeb5#ht_1545wt_905

I havent tried the Redline but I heard its one of the best.

How much were you planning to spend?

I didn't want to go too expensive since I do oil changes bimonthly but if it's good oil it's probably worth it. I think I might try the motul turbo light first and see how it goes., I use motul in my motorbike and I've never had any issues.

Edit. Motul comes in 4 liter or 25 litre drums. Who sells gulf western?

I've been using Turbolight 10w40 in mine with no issues since I bought it.

Could try Neo race oil!...I'm getting 12K easy to oil changes instead 7-8K....and if your worried you can send a sample back to be tested at the end of your oil change for free......better than Motul or Royal Purple IMO! But you do have to order it direct.....about $100 delivered.

supercheap and autobarn sells the synx-3000

because its only a group 3 syn is just doesn't last as long as the motuls/expensive oils but because its so cheap you can change it as soon as it gets too dirty for your liking

mine has done 5000kms so i'm changing it today, but i'll leave the old filter on tho

Ok first thoughts. Turbo is very loud. Boost is very linear, similar to a cx7. Over boosting stopped me having a proper drive and I blew off an intercooler pipe and had to walk home to get tools.
