Boost Fables

Where would be the best place to measure boost levels before the intercooler ? I want to use a std. boost gauge setup, ie:T-Piece type and hook it in similar to the way its done off the fuel reg line.

Anyone know the pressure drop (and a figure if possible) after the intercooler ?

Last and not least is there any formula for working out the shaft rpm of the turbo vs boost pressure ? what would be the safe limit of the RB25DET Turbos T3 shaft ?

OOOps, now I have forgotten to answer it....DOH

Best place to measure the boost pre ic is probably in the line to the wastegate as there isn't anywhere else to tap in unless you weld on a barb on the pipe somewhere.

Formular.....Not a simple one as the shaft speed v boost can change based on trim of wheels.

e.g.

a turbo with a small exhaust wheel producing 10psi may have shaft speed of 30000rpm

but

a turbo with a large exhaust wheel producing 10psi may have shaft speed of only 20000rpm

I imagine there is a formular but there is a lot of aspects to consider
