not completely decided yet but i think i will be going with 2530's if anything, what other mods did you have to get that power output mark34gtr???

tribex, I'm getting my parts fitted to the GTR next week, and went down the same path as you are now. I remember reading a good thread by SK, the question was how to get 300kw@wheels on a GTR with $5000~... Though SK was realistic with his opinion, it was based on minimal $$outlay.

If you decide, to go the whole hog, with new turbo's (either way, N1's GT2530, or SK Garret Equiv - MY opinion is stay away from hi-flows), you'll be making an easy 300kw+... below is what you'll need before you touch the internals, based on my due set-up, and a fair amount of research.

ENGINE ECU: Apexi PFC (Hand Controller optional, but it's definatley worth having, and knowing what's going on with your engine) = $1500

CAM GEARS: Re-engineered stock Cam Gears (some prefer name brands, same thing but half the price) = $220 Change-over

AFMS: Z32 AFM x2 = $320each w/plugs used (then you'll need adaptors made up)

AIRBOX or PODS: Debateable, I currently have HKS Pods, but have the stock airbox and will fitting this in replace of the Pods... to be continued

TURBOS: HKS GT2530 with 1bar HKS Actuators = $4000.00

EXHAUST: 2.5 twin fronts into 3in, stock cat then 3.5 from cat back = $1000

BOOST CONTROLLER: HKS EVC 4 = $450used

INJECTORS: SARD 700cc = $700 (easy fit)

FUEL PUMP: Nismo = $500 (easy fit) SK & others will say go the Bosch 044 coz it flows more and costs less, but I figured the when you add the extra work to fit the 044, it works out more than the Nismo, and most the Japs use it for more power than my target of 550-600hp.

OPTIONAL

DUMPS: Standard at this stage (Optional Trust Single Piece Dumps & Front Pipe) = $don't wanna know

INTERCOOLER: Standard (Optinal Greddy 600x300x115) = $1500

CLUTCH: Around these power levels you'll definately need a new clutch, I'm going Twin Plate at least. = $2000

All up the cost is $9010.00 +fitting & tune. (excluding the Optionals)

Options of DUMPS, INTERCOOLER, CLUTCH & PODS or STD AIR BOX, the cost for these would be add another $5000~ +fitting & tune

That's all I can think of at the moment... I hope that gives you some idea of what's involved if you plan to go that extra stage, and replace your turbos. Your next step I guess is internals, lightened body and engine parts... etc etc

EDIT: Nearly forgot - Thanks SK, SUSPENSION, SUSPENSION & MORE SUSPENSION.. to keep all this power to the ground you'll also need to consider SUSPENSION.. not included in the above, maybe SydneyKid can elaborate.

thanx mesh but i'm half way there,

already got Microtech ECU in the car which is a map sensor so no restrictive af sensor change needed, already got dump pipes and jasma exhaust and one big cooler in there power so far 257kw ( @ only 1 bar ), But YES a lot of those other items are on the list , mainly trubo's, boost controller and cam gears....

anyone got any idea what kind of power increase i will get just by adding boost to 1.2 bar?????

also mark34 did the 2530's just bolt straight up??

cheers....

    • I would paint match the whole thing to avoid unwanted attention  I had a similar bonnet, paint matched, on my old R33 GTST, but mine was a fibreglass jobbie made by Blitz in QLD, they work extremely well for radiator efficiency and under bonnet temps
    • Does anyone run this kit with factory plenum? Does the adapter and bosch tb fit under factory strut brace? I wanted to get this setup before going forward facing manifold. Thanks
    • small update time, after always wanting a "cool" looking bonnet for my car and always struggling to find one for the series 2 that i liked and wasn't an insane amount of money. Saw one i liked on RHDjapan from D-speed in Japan the price was very good for a carbon bonnet so good infact i was a little unsure how much i trusted it, decided to bite the bullet and with the help of jesse streeter in not long at all it was at my door. Once it was delivered i ran in from work and quickly unboxed it and to my surprise the quality was actually pretty good i quickly removed the old bonnet and placed on the new one to test it out and even the fitment wasnt too bad at all. Then decided to paint the little grille in the bonnet black to stop it sticking out so much.   I decided to not mess around with the hood latch and just install some aero catch hood pins, having never installed them before did some YouTube university classes and i was good to go. fair to say it is not a fun job at all from making brackets so the pins sit nicely and actually cutting through the bonnet but also being very scared of cutting the holes too big it took wayyyy longer than i would like to admit but finally got it there. Then it was time for a quick test drive to ensure the latches actually worked and thankfully the bonnet looked very stable. I still think paint matching the bonnet and leaving just the part that sticks up as carbon would help make it all look alot neater as im not sure how i feel about all that carbon on a very fridge white car but will leave it as is and see how i feel with time.
    • I think it's bound to happen, you finally get it all perfect, and bam, something will happen. I took a while to get a Commodore rear quarter repaired where a P Plater clipped it. Two days after getting it back, Sarah wiped it out on a concrete pillar in an underground car park... This is why I take forever to repair them, it stretches how long until it gets bent again... 😛
    • Nah, not really responsible for that little fiasco, but I'm still pissed at myself for writing off my 86, or when I reversed my VX into a pole just before selling it, but, meh, 5hit happens to stuff, all it takes is a slight distraction, and life is full of distractions, and "dooh" moments
