Engine Pre-Heaters

I've been starting to think of doing this also. Thanks Rich, might scour the US ebay sites for ex NASCAR stuff, didnt think of that...

It takes ages to get some heat into the oil with a dry sump, heater would be awesome!

Well I found out some interesting information from Radical when I was there yesterday (though I did forget to ask about the element heaters etc). My car is a 2005 model and it's system doesn't take too long to get up to temp, somewhere in the vicinity of 10 mins. However the newer cars take a good 20 minutes to get up to temp and therefore would make a lot of sense to get some heat into the oil first. Even at 10 mins I'd want to be doing something to cut the time down, and with the newer style tank installed it may be even longer.

www.engineheaters.co.uk also stock wraps in 220volt which makes life easy.

well in that first link the probes are 500w vs 400w for the bands, plus the probes are in the oil. personally I'd buy that first kit. for $35USD you get a few probes and some bands too. have a play and see what you come up with. or buy that peterson tank I linked for like $200 delivered and replace your current tank with that one (if it's suitable) then just wire up the heaters and bobs your uncle. may need a power inverter though if they are 100v. still not hard.
