Hey guys, just a quick question about the new mines baffle plates I've recently purchased..

I've done a few quick searches in regards to installing them as i want to give it ago myself but can only find threads on "what they do" or "should I get them or not"

So my question is, has anybody done this install themselves? If so, would you do it again? Seriously it can't be that hard can it?? Remove cam covers, remove old baffles, replace with new ones, replace cam covers?? Can't be much more to it.. Thanks for any depots in advance..

Pretty much answered your own question mate.

There is a right up in the DIY section with a PDF translated in English, only other thing it mentions is to change the location of the little cover things in there move them more to the rear of the engine

I'm also thinking of doing these cam baffles - does anyone know if there's an upper limit on cam size that will clear the baffles?

Put another way - does anyone know for sure whether 10.5 mm lift cams will present a problem? Anyone fitted 10.5 mm or bigger?

There are four of the covers that sit over the cams (on caps 3 & 4 as counted from the front). These are supposed to be moved to the back positions ie 6 & 7 but does anyone have any clue as to why?

The studs that protrude futher up to bolt the lobe covers onto will hit the mines baffles if they aren't moved further back.

The cam cover baffle mounting surface is actually sloped so there is more gap at the back, then at the front of the cover. That's why they tell you to move the studs to #6 an #7 cam caps.

High octane modded their kits so that if you forget to move the studs etc, they will still fit because of the holes they drilled in the plates.

has any used the new hioctane cam baffles ?

they look very similar to mines ones by photo comparison, just want to find out if they are a direct fit and most importantly work as they should?

or just stick to the tried and proven mines items?

I installed a set on the weekend. No ptoblems. Direct fit. I just followed the MINES install instructions.

I did have to make up a tiny spacer for the very front mounting hole and drill and tap a hole.

Mike, the cheapest ive found the genuine Mines baffles was around $300 from memory which isnt too bad considering the Hi Octane ones are somewhere in the high 200's. Only downside is the long wait for overseas shipping (allow up to 2 weeks) as opposed to the 30 min drive to Silverwater for the Hi Octane ones

they are no different to the Mines product. We're not talking rocket science here, Its only foam with channelled covers.

Use whichever one is more convenient for you.
