Hi guys,

Just need some opinions.

In short, someone drove into my car and side swiped it. Whilst my car was being side swiped, it pushed my car against the curb and scratched my wheels and side skirt. It also pushed my car to the car infront of me which had a solid metal tow bar which destroyed my front body kit. The suspension is damaged, however if you look at the picture below, it appears that the wheel and the side guard is rather close. Could the chasis be damaged?

I am hoping it will be a write off (but highly unlikely) , also concerned that noone would buy it....

Any thoughts and opinions are appreciated.

See pictures below

It doesn't look like a writeoff. Your shock could be damaged, maybe the rear assembly, but there looks like no major body work which would indicate no damage to the chassis or chassis rails underneath.

Don't be scared that you wont be able to sell it. Someone out there will buy the car for what it is regardless of history. As long as its sound, safe and healthy someone will gladly take it. Or you can do as I plan to do and keep the car until its time to put to rest.

I really don't understand the excuse "selling due to starting a family". If my wife popped out a child right now, were still keeping the skyline!

thats the reason why I got MX5 - no room for child seat so = no kids :D

My isured value is 22k - so it doesn't seem so eh? Just frustrating and i know the car is never going to be 100% again

If it's not written off I can recommend an absalutely f**king brilliant Panel Beater (although he's on the Northern Beaches), but having said that it would be worth travelling the distance even if you live out west.

5 years ago I had a really serious accident in my R34 (that I'd had 3 months) and it stressed the hell out of me and I just wanted to get rid of it.

It had 20K damage and a bent rear chassis rail, thankfully the side chassis rails were OK and the rear one just spot welds on and off. Anyway to cut a long story short they repaired the car, which required half of it to be resprayed so I payed to have the other half done and got a total respray.

The repair job was absalutely perfect, 5 years later still no problems, the car drives as well as any Skyline I've ever driven, my mechanic is also a spray painter and he can't tell it's been in an accident. People still look at it and say f**k that's a nice paint job you've had it resprayed havn't you.

So try not to stress if you take it to the right repairer you will never know it's been in an accident.

Let me know if you want my panel beaters details, I also have some photo's of the new paint job.

Don't stress it will work out!

Thank you all for the recommendation and assistance.

However, I might add that the mechanic I had worked on my car has done a superb job. He specialises in these Japanese import cars ranging from Skylines to Evos and even normal family cars.

He is a recommended insurer for Just Car, which probably explains why he is so good at what he does.

If you ever need a car to be repaired, I recommend Prestige Motor Sport in Lansvale (www.drgtr.com.au).

Cheers

Hi Paul,

Sorry I never got back to you, needed the car fixed asap and I needed somewhere close to me due to personal circumstances.

However, thank you so much for your feedback.

Cheers
