Hi guys,

I've had a nice 2001 Skyline 250GT sedan since last Nov and absolutely love it.

Over the past couple of months, the TV screen running in the dash was intermittent, ie. It would be dead for the initial drive in to work in the morning, but if I got in the car at lunch or for the trip home, the unit would kick over and start up.

This didn't bother me so much until I finally did the A/V in mod so I could run my iPhone through the stereo via the TV Unit in the boot. I got everything working, had sound and video coming from the phone to the screen, but then a couple of weeks after that the screen ceases to load up when I start the car.

Well more precisely, sometimes I can see the screen power (the LCD goes active) but there's no Nissan logo, none of the controls work for the display. What I do notice is the nav unit in the glovebox is generally dead at this point too (no power, won't load/eject discs). I know when the screen is going to work because I can hear the nav DVDROM seek and beep and the screen comes up.

So I guess the question here is does anyone know how to troubleshoot getting the nav to kick over? I've seen stripping down the dash as far as a double-din conversion, but nothing related to getting behind the nav. I'm wondering if it's a loose/faulty wire connection as sometimes it will even kick over a random amount of time into a drive.

Any suggestions welcome, if there's a way to troubleshoot I'd prefer to do that before I go down the next avenue of replacing the dash/stereo/etc.

Cheers,

Luke
