Put 3.8L Of Gearbox Oil In Trasfer Case

the other day i filled up my gearbox with redline gearbox oil via the gearstick hole. thinking it would be fine - WRONG!

as i am now aware this fills up the transfer case...

i drove the car around the block after i did this and oil started seeping up out of the gearbox hole

jumped on the net and now discovered #1: i am a dick, #2 i have 5 liters odd of gearbox oil in the transfer case doing god knows what to it.

will flushing out the transfer case a few times with atf fluid be alright? also does it take 2L of atf?

i dont think the transfer cas takes more than a litre.. less IIRC

R32 GTR Xfer takes 1.8litres

just flsuh it out a few times to make sure its all gone.

empty it out

fill it with about 1.5-1.8l

fill the reservoir in the boot

use the attesa bleed procedure

keep topping the reservoir as you bleed it

ATTESSA (mechanical fluid actuated in R32s) and the transfer case are 2 different fluid systems. I don't see how bleeding ATTESSA will help at all with the transfer case.

ok thanks. just as long as i didnt get any replies saying: youve farrrrked your trasfer case.

transfer case has been flushed and refilled with atf, redline fluid has been wasted , fill up nut on gearbox has been cracked, new redline oil has been ordered...

probably havent farked your transfer case, but the gearbox with no oil is more of a concern!

I drove around on an empty transfer case for 1000kms odd. Still works good. They tough.

yer there were a few little metal shavings on the magnetic plug.

only went round the block 2 times, so yer,,, shibby

How did u go with the trsnsfer after the flush? I did the same thing ghe other day but i also added nulon gear ol treatment to it! Was going to fill it with dexIII take it for a drive and dump it and fill with matic d, just hoping it will b ok
