Im 20 and i just bought a 34GTR nur. And no one else helped buy it. Well i'll be picking it up next week.

I studied hard and actually got a well paid job before finishing my degree so it is possible.

Possible but extremely rare, buy the STi yourself as well? With no external funding (ie olds giving you a savings account, money for 18th etc?) :)

I mean a degree by 20 is rare as it is, you'd have been @ uni since 16-17 and clearly not a dumb kid, so fair enough in that respect and well done if you've been able to achieve it.

I bought my own house so I have a mortgage as well.

Do you still live @ home though? That question was nicely avoided so im guessing yes - which makes all the difference :)

To the OP - you are talking about what, 80-90k of GTR, that wont appreciate for many years as stated. Fat chance of it going up in the immediate term, and if you intend to buy it and drive it - adding KM's is probably going to cause depreciation. You'd need to hard park it in a bubble realistically.

Smart move is to buy property first.

not having a go at the young guys in here, but i have a question. how much of your own expenses do you pay? do you pay for groceries? do you pay rent? do you pay for electricity, internet, etc? or do you simply pay a small amount a week in board which covers all that? if yes for this last question, then in a large way your parents are helping you pay for your car. this goes for the young kids that have saved up house deposits too. it's easy to say you paid for your own car/house when your parents pay for everything else leaving you lots of spare cash to save.

on topic though, it's going to take quite a few years for them to appreciate in value, and in that time, if you take into account the rego and insurance you would pay on it over that time, you would probably still end up losing money on it.

i give my parents a good $500.00 each fortnight to help with bills mortgage groceries and whatever else, as does my sister.. but i still cant imagine if I had to do it on my OWN, no way I would have my stagea - let alone a 34R...and i am given a pretty good salary fwiw

I got the job before finishing my degree. So now Im still studying part time while working full time to finish it off.

But ash was right, i was in uni at 17.

As for my sti, i had a little help from parents when i was younger with money that i put in long term deposit. Then i got a job and kept adding to it till i was 19. Didn't take a loan though. But i do owe some of that to my parents for getting me started and encouraging me to save instead of blowing it all on hard partying weekends lol

Hypothetically, someone could have a degree at age 19, in their 20th year of life. Granted you're born very late in the year and only obtain a basic 3 year degree.

I'll wage into this debate. It's hard to comment of what others do or don't have. I happen to own a CE lancer, R32 GTS-T and a 2005 350Z. Yes, I concede do live with my parents at a generous rate and do study full-time at university. But at the same time, it angers me when people make comments about my money/spending patterns. I receive comments from people around my age (20) about how much I must owe or spend. I work 24 hours a week during university semesters for an aggregate total of about $680 a week gross. I do contribute to my parents household costs too.

But I live like a misor. I'm not tight with money and I won't be stingie, but I don't go out and blow it all. I've spent about $1500 on clubbing in the nearly 3 years I have been an adult and it shits me off when people who spend $150 a week without fail on getting drunk decide to critique MY spending. Because I have a phyiscal manfiestation of what I earn, instead of a lot of hazy nights.

I think it is possible to own nice things, but I think some of us try to run before we can walk, financially.

      It was roughly 3.5 hours.    car went in around 11:00 and I was done around 2:30 He did the initial runs, install the BC and then Nistune install and tune.  The best part was sitting in the lobby and hearing the skyline on full throttle at the dyno 😂😂

      Yeah that was kind of the same feedback my tuner gave me.  the boost tee is until I can sort out my plan for the electronic boost controller and what I’d get, where I’d mount the dash etc.  I’m happy with this until I can figure it out. Not a big fan of the A-pillar gauges. I’d like to get a clean install of the boost gauge - something digital like GFB.  Something like that might fit neatly where the ashtray is and look clean. I feel like replacing the OEM triple gauge is a bit extreme for a weekender like my skyline. And it’s not making crazy power to need all the additional sensors/gauges.

      I'm about to swap my box to Tremec T56 Magnum F & initially thinking of re-using my DCS twin plate (can get it re centred for the bigger spline) but it's been called out the box will be noisy (rattle) as the clutch is unsprung.  So I'm doing as much research as possible. I'm not so worried about holding the power as I'll go the track version which on paper will hold the maybe 1000hp I make. It's the longevity I worry about. DCS told me they don't use a sprung centre as it's just something that can break. The uni clutch has a very complicated sprung centre. Any one had or heard about any issues with it failing? Thanks in advance.

      Auto is at least 10% (from my real, actual experience with different torque converters and manual on the same setup) ~185rwkw at 11.6psi (peak!) is entirely what one would expect without a FMIC or anything else on the intake, it does bleed off towards the higher RPM so it's what, 9psi there? Note: There is nothing that can be done about this with a manual boost tee. If you want to hold it steady and gain more top end, well - You will need electronic boost control.....
