Mine did this on front left side. The plug leading to the light was covered in this goop. The cables were also in bad nick where they entered the ass of the plug. I cut the plug off, stripped some fresh ends on the cable, and put insulated lugs on it. Lugs that fit the flags on the light. Then a few months later the other side did it, I did the same thing, haven't had a problem since.

Or as Jezzo said, it could be the loom as well. Have you tried giving the light a decent tap or two while the blinkers are on to see if it fixes it? Is it only one light? Do your blinkers 'blink' faster when this is happening? All this stuff happened to me, but lugs fixed it for good.
