I had massive hassles selling my r34 for a price I was going to be happy with so I sold my s14a drifter instead and gonna build the 34. The skyline is a much better car IMO anyway it's just the s14a was all built ready to go

well i bought a stock as a rock 98 4 door turbo auto, 5 years ago.... i paid $28000, this was back when they were relitively new to aus, i have since lowered it decent stereo, full 3'' turbo back exhaust fmi, the past 12months, ive been trying to sell it, thought id get 18 for it, but now im in a bit of debt and i had it for sale for $8000 no roady no rego and had one guy look at it. it has just over 160 thou on the clock... what am i doing wrong?

Holy crap. Yeah I paid over $35K for mine about 4 years ago - was looking to sell but not willing to lose that much money - much rather hit the track and smash it instead.

Unfortunately the import market is saturated IMO, and it's a buyers market with the cost of living these days....I blame that Labor party :whistling:

You'll get less money and less want for a 4 door auto, so relative to the price I'm selling mine for yours is on par.

Totally agree, I blame them too :)

I have been plugging your car to a mate, Jay, but he is one of these guys that won't buy it simply because I have one

I for one am looking forward to a change of government. Being a qlder I am being fkd over by women at both levels.

I blame that Labor party :whistling:

Bingo!

Totally agree, I blame them too :)

Bingo!

The entire market (except food, liquor & essentials) is down...

Australia is not spending their money, we are shopping more online than ever before and we are killing our local retailers...

More than 1 in 4 Aussies work in retail, hence the problem...

i had it for sale for $8000 no roady no rego

This will put a lot of people off. They think they're buying a lemon. I did the same with a 7 year old Magna I'd owned since new a few years ago. It had a cracked windscreen and just couldn't be arsed getting it roadworthy, even though it was still registered at the time of advertising. People stayed away in droves, even at $6k asking price (equivalent models were selling for $12k at the time). I ended up trading it for $4k (TH manual sports - supposedly sought after in Magna circles.......apparently)

I'm in the same boat at the moment. Trying to sell my R33 (which I believe is your old one, Col!) and I'm not having too many enquiries. Even the time wasters are eerily quiet. The country is entering a recession but from talking to a few business owners here on the Gold Coast it's extra bad off here already.....

What do you guys reackon, have I priced her correctly/cheaply and need to play the waiting game, or am I dreamin' with the price??? (http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/346233-1996-r33-gts-t-series-2-gold-coast-qld/)

that's her... wow, it makes me feel all funny to see her again...

so many hours labour, so much money to build & so much fun...

you must have bought it since i sold it i guess?

you gotta be willing to hang onto it... $15k is too cheap for her... just wait for the market to bounce...

cant get a clean S2 for less than 10-11k in stock form, little loan a monster one...

i put 15k just in the engine bay when i owned it over 3 years...

your add should read "$15k for engine, comes with free car"

I sold my 33 non turbo 2 door about 12 months ago now - Almost factory but it looked like new, sold it in about 1 week. Had about 3-4 enquiries on the day it went onto car sales and sold it for 10k about 5 days after it went online. The guy that bought it took it without hesitation straight away with no checks - my mechanic was upset I sold it for as low as 10k...

I think my biggest seller was: RWC, clean photos, showed all receipts, all services and reports and even my old racq inspection.

GL with your sale mate but more importantly, good luck with your wedding - It only happens once mate so enjoy!

    • Interesting, I haven't read about the issue with oil getting into the speedo in the cluster before. I'll have to take more notice with mine. The speedo on my R32's when I've run factory diff and tyre size have never been accurate as far as I can remember. The non Type-M GTS-t did come with 15" 5 stud wheels and smaller brakes, but that's less than 5% of them.
    • Good to hear the condenser you picked up off my brother worked all good. Do you think there could be an issue with your AC compressor itself or the clutch on it then? I don't know a lot about them so I can't really help but keen to hear what it ends up being. Keep the build thread going man, it's nice to look back on over time.
    • This is a story of my life things, I learned eventually (thanks to someone calling me out) that my enthusiasm for discussing and sharing ideas that it came across as arrogance and I'm like... WTF?!    One thing I'm pretty sure I justifiably pride myself on is knowing that everyone will have things they can teach you, and you're always going to find out that something you think you know turns out wrong - you just don't know what it is until you get there.   Just the bursting enthusiasm that comes with ADHD when you hit something that gives you dopamine dumps can come across like you think everyone else is wrong or don't matter. But yeah, I'm a software engineer by trade and also do tuning in weekends and 100% have long had a reputation for  quickly making connections when resolving problems or forming solutions that I've sometimes had to take people form a long walk from start to end to explain how I ended up where I did when it's seemed "too simple" when I've stated my initial case, and had the "WTF" type reaction when they've realised how much was actually considered haha.   My reward is that I get all the curly problems thrown at me.
    • Wives never seem to find things funny. Especially when they're trying to sleep, and you've found the new funniest thing ever. I've never seen someone be able to get try and be cranky with me, while they're holding back fits of laughter... 😛   Also, I tell mine it's payback anyway. She has BiPolar. So the household can get quite emotionally wild at times 😛
    • I'm not up to date on the latest, but for basic modifications like pod filter, lower springs etc you can get a modification permit at the time of inspection.  For more serious modifications you will need engineering.  Intercoolers used to fall into the mod permit rule but its been a long while since i looked it up.   Either way you will be able to get it registered, just a case of $300 vs $3k .
