If you're not making a lot of power with lots of boost, a $30 cheapie from your local car store will be fine. In fact, a study done in AutoSalon magazine (I think 2007, can' remember issue) showed that 3A Racing (cheap no-name brand) had the best flow and filtration compared to other brands like Apexi, HKS, Trust, K&N, etc. I've heard since then that these cheap pods are not made out of a strong material, and the foam can get sucked into your turbo and engine under high flow.

Personally I use an Apexi Power Intake, sounds amazing and I don't notice a difference between other types of pods. In reality, there is probably <1% difference between all of them in terms of noticeable affect.

Hmm I might be looking for power later on down the track so I may go a good brand. Specially don't want to wreck my turbo to save a few bucks.

How much do you think I'd be looking at for maybe an apexi second hand with a box??

Don't get a second hand filter, it's not like they are that expensive in the first place. I'd be more comfortable using a brand new cheapie pod than I would using someone elses sloppy seconds.

$90 for an Apexi Power Intake kit. If your intake plumbing is all standard you could get a box for around $100. I would recommend making your own box though, I made mine for around $40 and that's on the expensive side. James is a huge fan of my box, aren't ya Jimmy? :P There's a DIY for it on here, it's easy to do.

If you can't tell, I'm a big fan of custom work :P

Ok no worries

I work in industry so might be able to steal alot of parts for it actually :). A see-through box would look awesome, wonder if that's legal..

Yeah that's pretty cheap, does that include any needed conversion?

Ive noticed that haha. What other work have you done??

there's nothing wrong with mild steel exhausts. the best exhaust trust make (made) is the power evolution (not to be confused with power extreme). it's 94mm ID, has all v-band connections (except where it bolts to your front pipes), and is all mild pipe with a stainless muffler for looks. lovely exhaust, sound amazing and no problem with durability either. I've had both mild and stainless and find mild tends to sound better as in general mild tend to use slightly thicker wall pipe and it gives a nice rich sound with out the 'tinny' sound you get from some thin wall stainless systems (especially all the chinese ones, xforce etc that sound like rubbish). though having said that I've currently got titanium system on the car and it sounds pretty good but my god it's loud. thinking about swapping it for my mild steel power evo... lol.
