Steve, have the no screamer pipe rule been enforced for a while?

cause early 2010 or late 2009 i entered the NSW motorkhana there and they did not say anything about my screamer pipe.

Nor did they require a fire extinguisher as well.

As long as its been managed by the people who manage it (a long time), it's been a rule in the hire agreement (it's not outlining screamer pipes, it outlines overall vehicle noise). I dont think many users read/obey the hire agreement, but I do things the right way instead of getting away with it for a while then coming unstuck down the track :)

Insurance are the ones who require a fire extinguisher. Anyway thats just a smart/safe thing to have in the car

I have asked in the past about noise levels and exactly how loud we can be, its a touchy subject, as I said before if we arent welcome at this venue there is NO others in Sydney that can do these days and the Texi's will simply stop. No one wants that of course! To make things worse, I think there's a residential development happening quite close by which seem to be closer than the current residents. If that gets built and people move in, the fact that the skidpan/runway was there before they moved in wont stop them complaining - look at the people complaining that live near the airport eventhough the airport has been there for a long time...

State round is a CAMS run event yeah? We dont use CAMS for this, they're way too expensive and hard to deal with on key points

yeah its a CAMS event,

but cheers for clearing that up.

i do hope they new residents don't complain otherwise it will just only be wet skid pans and occasional peanut track days @ EC for 4hrs at a time only :(

Did u guys have any issues/noise complaints with the past event @ marulan?

CAMS are great on some things, terrible on others. This sort of event is in the "others" pile.

No dramas!

EC is the only other place in Sydney thats available, here's the problems; Cost is quite large to rent, last I checked you had to use a CAMS permit (expensive!!!) and AASA licences werent accepted. So if I was to take Texi to there, the entry fee would be around the $140 mark per member and you'd get far less driving time due to the small size of the pan. To put simply, Texi's would stop because at EC it would be a crappy event compared to what we are all used to now. IMO being in that situation is to be avoided at all costs :)

I wasn't involved with the MDTC day - so I cant answer that one sorry!

There's something I'm planning for next year down there, its worth the drive from Melbourne for it - so anyone living in Canberra is just lucky (for at least 1 weekend hahaha)

So is it too late to enter? I'm keen but still need to get an extinguisher mounted if I'm allowed to enter. I'd be a first timer too so would need a licence aswell!

and just to clarify are passengers free as long as they have a helmet and appropriate clothing?

Cheers

Oh on the topic of noise and Texi's in Canberra, at the last one down there we had the EPA come due to noise complaints from an old man living up the valley. Annoying much?!

They tested the background noise, I offered them a ride and some food from the BBQ, then they left happy as larry

If you can do the form tonight it will be fine.

Licence paperwork is 10 minutes, no big deal.

Passengers are free but yes must wear the same clothing and helmets as drivers and must also sign the insurance paperwork before getting in the car (same form as drivers)

i remember that, old guy is still there by the way.

Oh great. Got a present for him;

But in all seriousness, once he moves on or just accepts the fact that the world sometimes makes noise, it will be a massive relief to SRDTC and hopefully will take a lot of the pressure off them

Just a quick question about the form.

When it comes to the "I/we ............... of .......????.................... being" part of the "ENTRANTS DISCLAIMER/ DECLARATION" form what goes after the of where the question marks are?

Such a noob question but i cant for the life of me figure out what to put there?

Il be scaning and sending the form in aswell to the email in the form.

There you go

registration's closed ?

if it is i won't get a fire extinguisher tomorrow lol

Any forms sent in before 10 am tomorrow will be fine. Or if you're already spoken to Dave about it then you're fine aswel, but he checks all those with me and so far nothing like that has come up. :)

Thanks dude. Feel like a bit of goose for asking that now lol

We wont judge you....much ;)

haha

Dont stress, if its your first time then dont be afraid to ask! Id rather people come up and ask rather than stand around not knowing what to do. Everyone there on the day is friendly so dont be afraid!

It's also a good idea to read the Texi FAQ's thread, there's a link in the first post.

Haha thanks man,

I just sent the forms to the email supplied and payment has been sent through aswell.

I've got a few friends who want to be passengers on the day, do you need their names before the day or can they just rock up and sign on as passengers? Cheers

Andy

All Passengers just signup on the day.. You will hear the announcement

Oh hai Dave, I can be on lists plz?

    • Breather for it. If it's anything like the GTRs it should run up to the top of a bellhousing bolt.
    • What basics? With these OBD1 ECUs it's not like the ECU will give you any real clues, it's not really doing any sanity checking of sensors/sensor data. My experience is actually a lot of sensors tend to be the source of the issue first and foremost, and checking everything gives you a direction to investigate. MAF/O2/STFT/LTFT should all kind of make sense. You can try little tricks of the trade like tapping the MAFs to see if it triggers a stumble, things like that. But once you've done a compression test knowing whether you have an air leak or fuel delivery problem is kind of hard to narrow down without sensor data. And you don't really know if all your sensors are making sense unless you can interrogate the ECU directly about what it's seeing for sensor data.
    • Absolutely this. Yes, except not vacuum hose. Something oil/fuel safe is a better idea.
    • Like a Stagea, but not as cool! Hope you have enough garage space for this, or is something going to leave to make way for it?
    • The new project has arrived. I have wanted one of these for such a long time, well before that meathead Clarkson drove one in Africa. I really wanted an E34 but I have some medical issues that mean I *really* can't bump my head and the lack of airbags in the E34 made it just too big of a risk.  I don't know why I've always liked these older touring BMW's to be honest, but man I love this car. She's been pretty well maintained for her 243k's with what appears to be only a single oil leak at the oil filter housing gasket. It has a bunch of updates including later model bumper and headlights, 7 series billion-way adjustable seats and it came with a few spares and another set of wheels with legal tyres. I got a unregistered car permit from the RTA and drove it back from Canberra on Saturday.                   First cab off the rank is cleaning it up for blue slip. I dont know how picky they'll be but I figured I'd clean the headlights, fix the oil filter housing gasket, replace the speed sensors (throwing errors) and swap the OE wheels (the M Sport wheels have a big chunk out of one of the tyres.) I also need to replace all 6 gas struts - 2 for bonnet, 2 for hatch and 2 for hatch glass. The car tries to eat me whenever i open any of these. My plan for this car; Ultimately, this is a budget car. I can't afford to throw lots at it and its because I have another car that I got this, if something breaks its no big deal. I will just maintain and repair it really. But eventually I want to do a manual conversion. It actually looks pretty straight forward for E39's and the trickiest part will be sourcing the parts.  I do need to replace some suspension arms or bushes because wow, she's a floaty old girl. She's also fantastically slow. Like really, really slow. When pulling back out on to the freeway on Sat after a quick pull over I needed to wait until no cars were visible before going.  Oh, and the guy I bought it from had a gorgeous R31 GTS-X in the garage.
