Hey guys im thinking of buying a r34 from NSW. The guy initially bought the skyline from Melbourne

HKS bolt on turbo

Apexi N1 pod

Nismo fly wheel

3.5' full except dump which is stock

hks front adjustable coilovers

koni rear coilovers/shocks

Cusco rear sway bar

when the guy bought it from Melbourne he had to get a engineer certificate to get the car register in NSW, so now when i need to get this registered back in Victoria do i need to get any engineer certificate or anything?

do i just need a roadworthy certificate and just take it to vicroads and register it??

does vicroads also inspect the car?

and one last thing, most the mods above are unroadworthy is that right?

any help would be much appreciated, cheers

Depends on your luck if vicroads will look through the car and depends how much the guy checking knows. But I know when vicroads to check skylines there getting on top of coilovers now and mainly cut hole for intercooler so thats something to keep in mind other than that I would put the stock airbox if you have a cooler.

Your turbo and pretty much everything you listed has to be swapped for stock. Vicroads will inspect any vehicle being brought in for initial registration...ie. Anything not already registered in Victoria. The only real legal modification is a pod provided you haven't also changed the intercooler.

nor me or the seller has any stock parts, wat if i get a appointment at a vicroads in the bush where no one has ever seen a skyline... like lylidale areaish haha

ive registered plenty of VIV vehicles and all they check is the engine number that's it.

Viv is different. You're not bringing in a car from an entirely different state. They have a full history of Victorian repairable write offs up to the point where the write off was entered.

For the record, lilydale tmu are well trained, so why wouldn't the vicroads who have to put up with all their canaries be as well?

Don't be an idiot about it im just giving you the honest truth. All of those items are defectable and unroadworthy. If you find someone to do a dodgy rwc and then they inspect the car and see all that shit on there not only will they tell u to gtfo and pay another booking fee when you come back, you'll get your mechanic in shit for providing a fraudulent document.

They went over my currently registered skyline with a fine toothed comb for a height defect. How do u think they're going to react to what is essentially a foreign car to them?

Stop kidding yourself and be realistic.

nsw engineers certs mean as much to vicroads as nsw roadworthies.

f*ck all.

IF for some reason they let it past on an engineer's, itd have to be victorian. but buckleys chance on that too usually. cuz they'll just send you an EPA. and you cant tell them its ok that your emissions are higher than everybody elses cuz some guy in a workshop said it was safe to drive.

welcome to victoria, where registering, insuring, and in general owning a car is the most painful experience known to man.

i just swapped a mazda rx4 from sydney to vic reg car had a nsw engineers report for a ford 9 inch disc brake diff, series 5 turbo engine and change of front brakes.....i didnt even have to take the car there

I bought my car from qld. Fuel rail, injectors turbos, exhaust power fc, cam gears etc etc and they didn't even want to look at it. Just call up, tell them you bought a car from nsw and ask whats needed to be done..they most likely won't check it unless its been in an accident before or was a defect machine in melbourne

in my experience,

if you can keep it Regoed in NSW, Get a Vic RWC attend Vicroads and Transfer the NSW rego to Vic rego. (Give them the NSW plates)

Job done.

we just did it with a VIV registered 34 and that was the advice from Vic roads,

Yep, exactly what happened with me :)

Yeah its not as hard as people think

Cass you had a defect its completely different to an interstate transfer

Of course they will go over the car when u take it to vicroads clearing a defect

Also depends on what vicroads you go to and who's working there. I've been defected twice for height and once for tyres. They only ever checked the car once and that was for tyres. My most recent was height in the gtr, guy at vicroads basically said the cops were kents for giving me a major just for height. He then he stamped it and i went on my way, didn't check it at all.

also, when we got my first car which was unregistered they also had to inspect it. from what i was led to believe at the time they did, do or can treat an interstate car the same way

my boyfriend took my car to Burwood when it gone done with a major for height given theyre usually pretty lax about checking it. they also sympathised at having a major put on for height. but said to him, they dont need to check the car for a major defect. unless its for height.

hmmm very interesting on different experiences. Im transferring my license to south australia o be able to drive it on my p plates and going to keep the nsw plates on it for a while and before it expires ill just get the plates to transfer to melb. :D

and oh did i say i use to own this car before in melb

Hey mate I bought a modded GTR (turbo, injectors, fuel pump, ECU etc) from NSW a year or so ago. it still had NSW rego, so all i needed to do was to get a RWC and then just hand the details into VicRoads, because it was already registered under NSW they basically just swapped the details over and there was no need for an inspection. I was also worried I would get reamed if it was to go through an inspection but all was fine.

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 馃槈. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 馃槏.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 馃檹 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 馃槈. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 馃槏 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
