I've just scored a IPF Xenon kit, with globes for $300.

My dilemma is that I have a Series 2 R33 Gts-t and I'm wondering if the polycarbonate headlight lenses will stand the heat?

The Series 1 headlights have glass before the polycarbonate, and I've seen xenons in a Series 1, but never a Series 2.

Does anyone have a Series 2 with xenon conversion, or know someone who does, and can tell me if the polycarbonate lenses can stand the heat and not melt?

Thanks,

Jason.

xenon lights only dissipate about 35W, halogens are 65W. so your lenses will be able to tolerate it easily. However I think putting HIDs in standard reflectors is illegal, so make sure your headlights aren't aimed too high and be careful of mr plod :)

I have installed two kits in my series 1 low beam & 1 high beam they both take H1 globes. If you do the same just remenber that the xenons take time to warm up so get a auto sparkie to make the low beams stay on with the high beams or you have no light for 15 seconds during change over which was a little scary. www.globalpremier.com have some kits, anyone for pics?

ok, why are the bulbs at the site so friggen cheap? I was asking about getting some Xenon bulbs for a R34 if the original ones are destroyed in compliance (also assuming they leave the xenon assembly in as well), and ppl were saying around $250-500 just for a pair of globes??
