Duncan let me know that SAU has sent a care package to Aaron courtesy of Nick's delivery service. Sounds like poor Aaron might be in hospital for a little bit while they get his injuries sorted.

I'll be cutting some DVD's of our club event footage over the weekend and baking some cookies to bring to him next week. Maybe I'll cut a season or two of top gear for him as well. If anyone else is interested in contributing to the second care package drop post up in this thread. Just imagine being stuck in bed and how boring that would be. What can we bring him to help him pass the time?

We're a creative bunch so let's keep the ideas flowing.

Eric you are an absolute champion mate! I have just sent you a pm with some details.

He expects he will be in hospital for at least 2 weeks at this stage and still has surgery pending on his other foot so there will be a length recovery period ahead.

I passed on everyones well wishes and he was very appreciative of the support

Cheers,

Nick

I can loan Aaron a laptop for a month to play those DVDs of yours Eric.

I'll supply a set of earphones to go with it because it might not be kosher to play the 'racy' stuff in an orthopaedic ward in earshot of accident victims & their visitors.

I still feel sorry that Aaron took a wrong turn on the R34 GT-R 10th Anniv (now that I know who he is). :P

A VERY BIG THANKS TO EVERYBODY FOR THE GOOD WISHES AND THE OFFERS TO HELP OUT ME AND MY FAMILY APPRECIATE IT ALL! AND IT MAKES ME GLAD TO BE PART OF SAU ! CHEERS EVERYBODY AARON. PS , I HAVE GOT HOLD OF A LAPTOP , THANKS FOR THE OFFER TERRY .

So Aaron, is it ok for me to burn the video files on DVD in computer format rather than DVD video format? Will be easier but then you can only watch them on the computer. If that's ok I and just start dumping and burning a whole stack.

If you prefer standard DVD player type ones will just take a little longer for me to compile them.

Add VLC onto a disc then too :)

Hey Aaron,

I haven't heard from Blitz so shall I drop care package #2 off to you Tuesday after work? I've got 5 seasons of top gear, misc movies and all the SAU event videos I could find. Also a few choc chip cookies - yes, their Yankee cookies. Not Biscuits. Lol

Let me know if that will be ok. I can drop off to reception to respect your privacy if you like.

Regards,

Eric

Still haven't heard from Blitz. Give me a shout on 0419 468 835 and I'll try to figure out what's the best way to get this stuff to you.

Hope you're feeling better soon and to a speedy recovery.

    • Don't do it if your gearbox box has already having syncro issues. The short hifter will put a greater load on them. If you must I remember Nismo did a shorter shifter, with the top part being physically shorter and the part that went into the gearbox was the same as stock. In saying that I've had a C's short shifter (I think) in mine for many years, which was given to me as the previous owner was not sympathetic to the gearbox. Thus forwarned I was careful and had to modify my normal changing style. You have to be super accurate with your clutch and shifts
    • Well, after a week of daily driving and having to crawl out between the wheel and the side intrusion bars. I got myself a quick release setup. I went with an NRG short hub and Quick Release with some cute heart cutouts on the pull tabs. Nice and matchy matchy with the rest of the interior accents I have going on.  The only downside is the total stack height even with the short adapter is longer than the old HKB boss kit. Luckily I had some adjustment left on the column so move the wheel away.
    • stock shifter with new bushes, springs and cup will improve it. Gktech do all the bits. The opinion as the years have gone on is the redline is not great in old gearboxes.
    • Hi all   what short shifter do you use on your skykine r34?   my synchronous does have a problem and i was getting huge delay and grinding sound between 2nd and 3rd, did put shockproof red heavy stuff and it is great now/ no issues   would in your view short shifter screw this up?   people seems to suggest/ use cube short shifter and there is standard and premium. Seen review of premium as much better and less play. Thoughts?
    • Yeah, there's a bit of a density and friability difference between pebbles and any of those other things. Silicone will definitely float in oil and so will be mobile enough to move around. Although, again, if it is upstream of the filter it really shouldn't go any further. I would only ever worry about silicone when it is in places downstream of the filter. Upstream of the pickup is a whole 'nother matter. We've all seen what that does. I have seen the most abominable crap settled out in industrial gearboxes, trunnion lube systems and the like, without any sign that any of it has touched anything in the machine. Just chilling in the bottom, waiting for the inevitable operator error that causes the whole machine to need to be dismantled for repairs.
