hi,

I am thinking of purchasing a car from QLD and I live in NSW. The question I have is what is involved when brining it home? Can I just drive the thing home and do a straight transfer into my name or does the veichle need to get any tests done before transfering rego to a new state?

(sorry didn't know where else to post this topic)

Ok first of all you will need a "blue slip" inspection. This will make sure your engine, vin/chasis numbers etc line up as they should. Then you will need a "Pink slip" inspection which is basically the same as a Q.L.D. roadworthy. You then need to take out Third Party Insurance and take the "Blue slip" "Pink slip" and Third party insurance certificate to your local RTA office. YOU MUST HAVE THIRD PARTY INSURANCE IN NSW TO REGISTER A CAR. All up it's between $700-$1000.

By third party, I think he means greenslip.
