Yep sent to him. Sadly in Canberra though...

It's pretty close to, if not, a 3076 from what I was told. Unsure of exact specs but will chase it up for future reference.

must be a stage 2 sierra? perhaps you might wanna open up that wastegate.

im joking mate. should be fine with the bigger wastegate.

mine blew up twice due to oil starvation

is boost creeping due to unsatisfactory wastegate and stronger spring

etc.

if i end up having to do it again. im going with craigs turbo.

FYP

Lol at the simple dude

Hopefully not. Been supplied a new oil line and were going to ensure the feed is 3mm all the way to the turbo. Wastegate actuator has been modified by Scotty so should hopefully hold ok.

I'm gonna get a boost gauge though so I can keep a more accurate eye on it me thinks..

lol i couldnt remember it while i was typing.

once its all fixed up you shouldnt have ny over boosting issues. it should hold a flat 15-16 psi with that spring,,

The good news - from the 5min drive I did have it felt pretty strong, especially in the midrange. Cnsidering it's about $400 cheaper than the precision turbo rebuild I'd consider it a good option. That being said, if I had my time again id firstly pull the engine and go for a precision turbo rebuild, for ease of installation.

Anyway, another week and a half or so and it'll be back on the road

Big thanks to Jetwreck, massive effort so far...

Sean

So what is a a second removal and Install of the turbo going to cost you?

I would have thought that is at least 8 hours extra work at what every rate you have agreed with Jetwreck.

I would call that a terrible build for our car if there is even the slightest possibility that it would require additional work around the turbo that you have now seen is stupidly tight.

I still have nightmares about my turbo change.... :woot: seems to always conjure images of half naked girls and orgies... (that is a whole different story... lol )
