I have a red-light traffic infringement photo with the light indicating orange. I am turning right at 12km/hr.

I will try to speak to someone tomorrow but what does my photo tell you guys?

Can I still be in the wrong?

Its not worth my time to go to court and this is the second incident in a few weeks at the same location.

Never been through a red light in 30 years nor ever !

$260!!!

Perplexed

Orange means prepare to stop, not continue on.

If you are 1/2 way through the intersection though, and it's orange, you'll be fine IMO.

You can easily write a letter stating it was green upon entry, only going to orange as you went through it. I cannot see how you'd not be let off in that instance. The camera shouldn't go off until it is red, it's not an orange light camera ;)

Sounds like poorly calibrated Gov't revenue raising equipment. I'd also include words/statements like "incorrectly calibrated as shown by pic" etc etc.

this^^^

There was an ACA/TT report on a faulty redlight some months ago + Brisbane Courier Mail May 7th ie last month about aging redlight cameras in Qld being faulty.

I just did a :google: on "faulty redlight cameras"

Hope this helps...

The reasoning is that if you're turning right (this is on an intersection where there's no right arrow) and you've already entered the intersection, you have to wait until the oncoming traffic has gone through before you can turn the corner. If they decide to run the orange themselves, you have no option but to wait until it's red before turning the corner, and turning is safer than sitting in the middle of the intersection blocking the other traffic obviously.

The relevant road rules are here:

This is what i would be going with. If you don't get let off i would be amazed, but hey, it is the 100% fair law enforcement, who definitely aren't out to just raise revenue.
