Infiniti being released in Australia??? That's news to me.. When is this meant to be happening??

Colour is always personal preference. I always thought black looked the best, but having compared it to the others colours, esp. my vibrant red 370gt coupe, I do agree that black does tend to choke the beautiful curves of the coupe. I find sleek the vibrant red really accentuates the sports car appearance of the coupe. It also attracts a hell of a lot of attention on the roads. You just see the heads turning and re-turning as you cruise by.

The coupe is very roomy having had a 2door Rav 4, the v36 has massive space and legroom for back seat passengers. But certainly a 4door would be more practical for multiple passengers. I preferred the 09 and think its definitely a much better buy than the 08, especially when Im currently seeing SP 08s selling for anywhere up to 60K. This being the case I definitely went for the 09 model and would recommend an 09 esp. when you add the additional features its well worth it. SP tan leather, woodgrain trim, sunroof, 7 speed semi-auto, and the list just goes on and on and on :).. Just look at this little beauty!

Yes Infiniti is coming to Australia next year, I think this is their second attempt but I think this time they will succeed. The Sedan, Couple and 4WD's will offer more luxury and performance for a better price compared to the Germans. I've never owned a German car really but my uncle used to have a new shape 325 coupe and to be honest the interior was quite bland. My v36 definitely feels and looks better than the beemer. Only other contender to the v36 is the i350 Lexus, the Lexus looks good and is quite luxurious but it wont beat the nissan in performance.

And for anyone looking to purchase a v36, don't pay more than 50K for a car up to 09. You are being ripped if you do.

Sat nav is not that expensive to change, the garmin unit is about $600 i think. You can run this thru the AV and it will work straight up. I did mine and I ran it thru the camera system, main reason being that I can have the navi running and still listen to the cd, radio etc.

They are a fantastic motor car and black is absolutly porn! but a bitch to look after.

I'm just going to wait until the car is released in Oz and see how much it will cost to convert the whole navi/centre screen. If its too expensive I might wait until one comes through the wreckers. I'd rather have the whole thing converted including menu's and stuff rather than a quick fix solution.

Now lets be honest and realistic, if you have access to japanese auction houses and look at current V36 prices in Japan then adding compliance, duties, freight etc. and all other on road cost top of the range 08 SP V36s, in mint condition, with max of 30,000, one owner and grades of 4.5+ will cost approx.50K+. Now for you say your getting ripped if your paying more than 50 for up to 09 just isnt realistic.

I think anyone that has access to japan auction houses and can see how much skylines are selling for will agree. no to mention if your looking for a SP with sunroof price will be slightly higher given that only 10% of V36 have a sunroof.

Having owned a 320 convertible can definitely say the interior of the V36 is MUCH MUCH more pristine the dash and interior space of the V36 far out weighs the BMW.

Thats not true Skyline37.

Mine is still on the way but all up, to be on road it will be costing me just over $40,000. That includes rego, insurance, $1350 tyres (didnt go for crappy ones), extra shipping and handling because the compliance is in Brisbane and I'm in perth and the radio expander. Granted, if you want a black one with a sunroof then you will be looking at around $5,000 more and if your 18 with a shit driving record then you wont get insurance cheap either. Mines an SP, auction grade 5A, with >25,000km.

So it is possible to get them for well under $50,000 and when I compare that to a couple of 2002-2003 BMW 330ci 's that I took for a drive, for around $40-45,000 plus rego, insurance etc, there is no comparison. The BMW will have an awesome suspension setup and possibly hold its value longer but will have waaaaaaaaay higher km's and cost a fortune to service and repair.

Some people may not like this but I have no problem with Australian cars either and would happily have a Clubsport or GTS but I dont want to be the 1000000000000000th one on the road and prefer to have something unique. If I still lived in Germany then I would LOVE to import a big Aussie V8 because everyone else on the Autobahns would be thinking WTF IS THAT??!!??!!

But for the money, in Australia, I dont think there is much else that can compare to the 370gt.......hence I bought one........

Then all I can say is you must have got your car for a very very good buy! Just been looking at daily auction closes and 08s are selling for 2.7mil+.

But def. agree with you about being unique. Was living in Europe for a while and always thought it be nice to cruise around in a good HSV but certainly would do that here in Oz. But the great thing about having a v36 and one that has infiniti badges you just see ppl driving past turning and then slowing down waitin for you to drive past so they can see what the car is LOL. and others speeding up in your review mirror trying to source out this beauty.

That certainly doesnt happen when your in a bmer, too many around but not with the V36-love it!

Yeah i did get a pretty damn good deal, but i have seen some others go for not much more as well. Geoff @ Prestige Motorsport was pretty suprised, I had agreed to go at least 200,000-300,000 yen more. When he called and said "its yours", i asked "how much?" and then almost chocked when he told me.

It was directly after the earthquake and the AUD was extremely strong, but still only a little better than now. I think that if you are patient enough you can get a bargain as I see so many go unsold week after week after week. Eventually these people have to accept a lower bid or they will be stuck with the car which is costing them money.....I was lucky though, definitely, I didnt need to be patient, it was actually the first car that I bid on, not actually expecting to get it :P

What was your auction cost? It must have been very very low. I paid around 2.4m-2.5m yen for mine a couple of years ago and the exchange was around 75 yen with all costs including luxury car tax and $5000 for compliance in Brisbane the car owed me around 55K or better.

Dollars didn't bother me that much providing I got what I wanted, a black 6sp manual SP coupe with less than 10K on the clock :D

Amen to that brother!

I paid 2.3million FOB, with an exchange rate of 87.3, that's 10% right there. Compliance is now only $2200.

Getting a black manual is always going to cost more, especially with such low kms. 2.5million for an almost brand new car a couple of years ago is f'ing awsome. If the AUD had been as strong then as it is now and the compliance cheaper like now, then yours wouldn't have been that much more, but it was basically a brand new car.

Again I just don't see how anything else in Aussie even comes close for the $$$.

If you go to www.exportcar.jp/en you can do a search on pretty much anything and see what they sold for or were passed in for. The majority don't sell, maybe 1 in 5 or so, and if they don't get past 2million they definitly don't sell (unless they're f'd).

Many do seem to still sell for 2.7, 2.8 million and I have seen some for over 3 but if you are patient, set your budget and stick to it, then you can still grab a bargain.

If mine arrives and is only running on 5 cylinders, it might be a different story, but I doubt it.......fingers crossed.......

Yeah you can get good clean v36's for mid 40's now. Mine cost me low 40's, SP model with Sunroof and 30,000K's. 4.5 Grade. 50K was a good price 12months ago but not anymore. I see some resellers selling some for 55K in Sydney even with high K's, definitely a big profit margin there.

I did an insurance quote with Just Car last night and it placed an agreed value of $55,000, even though I put in Purchase Price of 40 something.........are they inviting fraud or what???

All of a sudden pushing it off a cliff could seem like a good idea......???

Is this correct or have Just Car made a mistake somehow....?

There will be a clause in there somewhere regarding agreed value or fair market value. Suggest you read the fine print.

Also suggest you don't commit fraud and post about it on the internet. :)

Of course not Mike. I would never dream of taking money out of the pocket of a poor, struggling insurance company.

Seriously though, I am assuming that the 55,000 is what their market value is.....I will look at it again when I get home but on the quote I'm pretty sure it actually said agreed value $55,000.....

I don't know why they would ask for the purchase price and them say 55 anyway. Maybe trying to sucker people in lol.....

You would be suprised I keep seeing cars week after week passing through and they are still not budging on price. In fact there's one car that has been coming up an a weekly basis for more than 8months now and they still haven't moved from 3.4mil. From previous experiences I have had the Japanese to be very stringent and ridged on price and very few come down.

2200 for compliance is damn cheap!!!!!!!! Its 3500-3800 in Sydney. Alkatraz, you sure did get lucky is all I can say!

Compliance in Perth would have been $5-6,000, only one place here that does it. So it is worth the extra shipping costs easily.

Judging by the comments I am starting to think that maybe I was extremely lucky, but saying that, the week before I got mine another guy in Perth got one for just a little bit less than mine, but it was a 4.5 grade. I saw the photos and all of the marks were EXTREMELY minor so that one would have been a good deal too. I cant remember what the kms where on that though.

You may also find that the price of the 08's start dropping later in the year too. As soon as the SHAKEN on the 09's start getting close to expiring, anyone holding an 08 will need to drop price. Especially seeing as the 09 has a few improvements. Or you may find that the 09's just come on the market for more, but i have seen a base model 09 with really low kms go for under 3million already.

I just looked back at the compliance invoice and realised that I lied, its actually $2400, thats excluding tyres too.

Could even be worth anyone in Sydney having it shipped to Brisbane and then driving it down......nothing like a long first drive to make you fall in love with the car.......not sure how that would work with rego though.....?
