htial
Ok everyone... ...I've hope you've got plenty of crackers because I've brought the CHEESE!!!... And thanks to everyone who's PMed me about footage of you on the track and the skid pan. I'm getting to them as quick as I can. I hope this wets your appetite to what you're getting. I'd just like to ask that if you do post any of my footage up on YouTube in your own channels, (and you're a welcome to do so), please link to SAU Vic TV in the description and Tags and anywhere and everywhere else as much as you can. The more traffic to SAU Vic TV and the forums here gives the club more exposure in the wider community. - - Laith... - SAU Vic TV Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/366743-import-monster-sau-vic-deca-round-2-2011-wrap-up-thread/page/2/#findComment-5850518 Share on other sites

achoo
DECA - 1 day and 2 nights of coolness Volunteers - Thank you so much for your time once again, Without doing what you guys do the day will not happen. People that normaly drive at DECA and for whatever reason could not drive on the day and to still came up and help is a sign that you really do put back into the club. Campbell - you are one crazy dude. I know when the results come out they are going to tell me what I already know... that you beat me in my own car... Bec - The more I get involved in the organisation of these days, the more that I see you do for the club! you are a freak and the club is REALLY lucky to have you. Ryan - Once again you kicked my ass, thanks for that. For those who did know him that well don't know how much time and thought that he puts into these days and once again thanks for teaching me how to run these days well Import Monster - Thanks for getting on board to sponser a great event and even better to see you out and amongst it all! Nice car by the way. I cant wait for the next one... everyone needs do an anti-rain dance before we go Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/366743-import-monster-sau-vic-deca-round-2-2011-wrap-up-thread/page/2/#findComment-5850527 Share on other sites

MacGillaZ
Was very interesting watching how early/long people carried the throttle/speed over the main rise into the 2nd chicane, with the dual entered cars highlighting how much familiarity/ballz with the car is important. 2 examples that stood out for me were; Ryan/Russ with both getting on the power quite early & carrying heaps of speed although Russ was generally more sideways/slightly slower at the same-time. The other being the 964-RS which was bouncing on limiter for almost a second going into the back sweeper with the first driver after barely cleaning the 2nd chicane cones where as the second driver who was still carrying more speed than most over the top, but with more tentative throttle application nor as aggressive braking/driving line, couldn't quite match the limiter bash into the same corner. Having driven the back track in this orientation quite a few times, it clearly shows where a bigger set of goolies are required to be quick! Anyone who likes taking photos/videos I can highly recommend volunteering as a spotter on the back track, as you'll get some great footage/shots which had me kicking myself for being lazy Glad everyone had a great day, big thanks to the organisers for putting in the time to make the day happen, no rain for the next one and more complexity in the skid pan courses Edited June 5, 2011 by MacGillaZ Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/366743-import-monster-sau-vic-deca-round-2-2011-wrap-up-thread/page/2/#findComment-5850619 Share on other sites
htial
LAITH THAT IS FREAKIN AWESOME!! Shared and linked Thanks... ...It's just a template "trailer"... I think I got the best spot for the Long Wang right away... ...I could zoom in on the start... ...Get people coming over and down the hill... ...then coming out of the back and into the chicane... ...And at a distance the basketball court and the finish... As for the skid pan... ...My first choice wasn't so good because as the sun came down the cars all turned black... ...But once around the other side it looks so much better... I wasnt really focused on times, more just having some fun so took the oppertunity to step it out as much as possible A small clip i put together last night for shits'n'giggles : Cheers, Joe Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/366743-import-monster-sau-vic-deca-round-2-2011-wrap-up-thread/page/2/#findComment-5850850 Share on other sites
R31Nismoid
I quite enjoyed the wet skidpan in the morning. Added a totally different challenge to it all, I was very impressed with the AD08s and how they were totally predictable in the wet when sliding a GTR. Quite surprising indeed. KezR33
Massive thanks to all involved! Will expand on this tomorrow when I can get on a PC and off my iPhone. As for the results, whoever said Supras were at home in the water weren't wrong! I think i just need more balls when it comes to the wangs, they let my score down terriably. 180Roman
wow that was quick with the results didn't place too badly with the way i was sliding around lol car definitely did not like the long wang in the wet, the only spot it liked on the long wang was the basketball court lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/366743-import-monster-sau-vic-deca-round-2-2011-wrap-up-thread/page/2/#findComment-5851096 Share on other sites
Russman
Ryan/Russ with both getting on the power quite early & carrying heaps of speed although Russ was generally more sideways/slightly slower at the same-time. I hope someone got video of the last time I did the long wang. I had 2 big corrections going over the hill. Would be good to watch. Ryan have you got it on the go-pro? Summary of my day was wet = sucked balls... dry = had heaps of fun in Ryans car. Long wang runs were the highlight. Thanks Aaron from import monster for making the day possible and for being a good bloke and to Reon, Bec, Ryan, Anna and all volunteers. MacGillaZ
Looking at the results, currently the more people wrong direction, the penalty points incured by any driver are significantly reduced as compared to cone strike or missed start elsewhere. Net result seems that the more complex or slippery it is, the less impact that that course will have on the events outcome. Not sure how one can score higher with a WD than someone with a single cone strike ...
