Mid semester break is approaching fast and I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the general automotive section.

With 100,000kms coming up on the clock, the car is frequently getting the 'yellow check engine light' coming on, not always about one in every 10 trips and I notice nothing different about the car when it does pop on so I didn't get it checked out.

I want to go for a trip along the east side and was wondering what I need replaced and if the car would actually make it all the way there and back without blowing too many tyres and radiators etc.

This is what I had in mind for the trip:

Install a pod filter

Possibly install a cat-back exhaust (to make the engine breathe easier)

Replace timing belt

Get new tyres

Do the usual service things

Get the stock clutch checked?

Would this be sufficient to travel a few thousand KMs from Melbourne and back? Let's say I'm going to Brisbane / Sydney or maybe Adelaide.

My car is a naturally aspirated r34 skyline.

EDIT: THE CAR IS COMPLETELY 100% STOCK!

Any opinions or thoughts?

Please move this into the right section if this is in the wrong section, thanks mods!

Exhaust and pod aren't going to do anything to help you. If anything (and I mean with negligible effects) they are both counter productive to engine longevity.

Just get a service, do some long trip checks and stop every few hundred km (piss/food stops) to give things a rest. You'll be sweet. Cars are built to drive for a long time!

so you don't think it will break down in the middle of no where or anything like that?

It's a car mate.

It's designed to be driven. You are no more likely to breakdown than anyone else.

Just get the 100k service done. That alone will cost you more than you are thinking TBH.
