Sorry i havent used any of the workshops here so cant help. If that is the way you want to go get them to get the car running and if you have money left over do the service, if not the collective minds here can do it easy. If its moving it will make easier to get to someones place/w/shop for a meet up.

Great call, Boss. I'll do just that, anybody had dealings with Auto Italia in Morley or Allstar Garage in Malaga? Their website lists gtrs and they'r close by, two pluses..?

Ok, got a bad vibe from Auto Italia and all-star are booked out for at least 2 weeks, I ended out booking JPC in oz park for next Monday. How exciting!! :) I'll keep u guys posted with what the issue ends out being. Otherwise WhightNight27, what should I look for with the pump? Or your welcome to have a bash sometime if your keen, Im pretty sure Boss inspected it so maybe the fuel filters blocked. I don't nooo.

Peace.

Jesse.

Why dont u change ur fuel filter could be blocked but not think it would cause that much trouble unless its 95% blocked. witch it could be if its never been changed.

Its not hard to change and not cost much for the filter ether.

Think i remb u saying that u could not hear the pump prime any more or it was quieter.

First i would see if u can hear it. if so then remove the rubber hose from the fuel rail and see if its getting fuel up to the rail.

If that's ok then do what t revz said crimping the return fuel hose to add fuel pressure.

any how hope u get it sorted

Hey guys, fitted my new oil filter but couldn't work out which hose is the fuel hose on the injector rail. Can anyone describe where it is or tell me what page of the manual it's on? Much appreciated. Also, as far as crimping the return hose, that's located under the duel pumps inspection cover in the boot, correct?

I wanna have one last go and anyone else is welcome before it goes in on Monday.

Ta people.

Jesse.

the hose coming out of the fuel filter is the feed from the pump.

the hose coming off the fuel reg is the return, crimp it slightly anywhere after the reg to up the pressure.

No good guys, no good at all..... Turns out the ecu wasn't plugged in and switched on properly(?!) and the fuel was off(half tank that had apparently sat for 4 months before I purchased plus fresh half tank plus injector cleaner).

Big problem its got a big end rattle. Apparently this means a 10-12k rebuild or 6-8k engine swap. Does anyone have any suggestions other than sell the car? :( I think you went through this Nak, what's the dealio?

Cheers.

A sad Jesse.

Cheers boys,

Is everyone in agreement about price? 6k for an r33 engine? Seems.... Extensive..?

Talk to Steve May as I reckon it will be well cheaper than 6k.

There will probably be a bunch of stuff that you should do before you put it in for peace of mind though, I would be inclined to do timing belt/tensioner/idler/waterpump and all the vacuum hoses.

You probably sell the current engine to recoup some of the costs too.

  • 2 weeks later...

Sorry guys, I hate to be this guy but I'm bailin'.. I'v cone to terms with the fact that I'm out of my league here, financially and knowledge wise. Maybe one day I'll look at another one but for now the car is for sale. Make an offer if your interested.

Really sucks to lose the skyline coz iv never known any car club to be this helpful!! :)

Cheers for all the help guys.

Jesse.

    • Yep, that was one of the things we learned fast in the past with our MX5. When you drive with the top down, you are effectively standing out in the sun, 100% of the time, and not getting in any shade (because roads aren't shaded generally!). Just like standing out in the middle of a field on a sunny 27C day is a bit of a bad plan, so is sitting in a MX5 without sun protection.
    • I also just ordered some Frankenstein bolts and side mounts to fit a hard top Just in case I do find one, basically so it doesn't need to be fixed to the car with only the front latch.......and then gaffa tape to keep it in place for the RTN journey from wherever I get it
    • If your temps are fine now, you probably won't have any issues with where your vents are as they don't look right up at the windscreens high pressure area, so any differences when giving it the beans for extended happy laps would be minimal, but, they should vent heaps when stuck in traffic  Much like how that reverse cowl on my SS let "visible" heat out when stationary, but, because it was basically at the windscreen my coolant temps on the Hwy actually raised because air was being fed into it at speed (110kph), to only come back down to around 90° when I got off the Hwy And your 100% correct about the NC currently not needing vents, but, if I was to add a turbo, and a oil cooler and intercooler in front of the condenserand radiator, and then take it to the track???? It is apparently a recommend requirement if I don't want to worry about coolant or oil temp issues, but, any of the above are possible scenarios, over time As it sits now, with the triple pass radiator and stock air conditioning system, I have absolutely no issues with either temps or air conditioning efficiency, I've been basically daily driving thie car for the last month, both on the Hwy, and peak hour, bumper to bumper traffic, but, that's pretty much expected from basically a standard engine  Talking about no issues daily driving, it was 39° the other day and I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on the M5 and then M7, with the top down, and with the air conditioning blowing nice cold air on my feet, balls, and face, well, there was one issue, my head and arms got pretty sun burnt Note to self: leave a hat and sunscreen in the car for such days 🤣
    • I would agree, unless you need something specific to the HV motor/battery side repaired or investigated, any mechanic will be able to perform normal services, but if you prefer, maybe look for a mechanic who regularly services/repairs Nissans, the VQ engines are pretty common in the Nissan lineup.  Sorry, I can't make any suggestions, I don't live in Vic.
    • Some of them keep working fine. 9 out of 10 of them end up causing an absolute misery bleeding the system and get thrown on the workshop floor in a tantrum and never thought about again because they were never really needed and just added crap to the car that we could have done without. Same-same with HICAS, A-LSD, and various other stupidities that over eager 10x engineers thought we had to have.
