Three months to import and get on the road

Three weeks for a Saab driver to do this on the Harbour bridge.

poor camera photo, had it towed as the exhaust was hanging down badly and I was not comfortable with driving it .

Accident was low speed, no body hurt, I have full comp with Just Cars , she's with AAMI.

Damage is mostly to rear bar but the exhaust was properly hit, pushed of it's hangers with a bad crease at the first bend. Also hit the boot door but minor and still opens/closes no problems. Looking around in the dark I could see no chassis damaged, not even rear panel damage, so fingers crossed.

I was planning to come out to the NSW Texi this weekend to meet SAU people for this first time. I'm so gutted that I can't do this now.. ( unless I steal the wife's Fiat )

Getting Rock Hudson'd really sucks. Happened to me back in Feb & I'm still sorting it out.

You should be OK with insurance all round, but royal PITA with having car off the road etc. Good luck with the repairs. Hope it ends up OK.

My guess is that if the rear boot floor is not damaged, it will probably be worth them repairing. Just be careful AAMI will push you very hard to use their repairers....

You should still come out on Sunday....at least you can watch everyone else having fun

cheers guys, yeah I'm all good. I lilted all the rear boot area and could see no crease, as it's agreed value (15k) I can't imagine it will be a WO.

Was only coming along to say hello at texi, not ready to do skids yet, so I'll still prob come out anyway.

spare wheel area looks good , no crease etc, so fingers crossed.

They are getting two quotes - California smash repairs ( their choice ) and Jack Hillermans ( my choice )

I don't know California smash repairs so if anyone has dealt with them , please PM me .

How much should I be concerned about the transfer of energy through the exhaust forward to other componants etc ?

Last time I got rear ended I found the exhaust just took the impact at its weakest point. And in my case since I'd just done the exhaust, it was the original headers, which cracked apart (and couldn't be replaced on an E28 BMW M535 ).

If the exhaust has bent somewhere in the middle, that's probably where the impact transferred, and I'd think you'd be fine.

My girlfriend works in insurance and tells me nothing but bad things about AAMI. If you get choice of repairer with Just Cars, put the claim in with them so you don't get screwed by AAMI.

Dude, that seriously sucks. Did you tell your friendly Saab driver how long you've had the car on the road after your five-month search and wait? Maybe a bit of a guilt-trip will remind her to pay a bit more attention on the road (assuming that she was clearly at fault)...

And yeah, you should still come out to see and meet us at Texi on Sunday, you'll see at least one of us LOLvo drivers out there providing either lessons on what (not) to do, or laughs, or maybe a combination of both.

Check under the plastic trim that goes across the back of the floor, and look down in the gaps behind/under the taillights, seems to be common to crease in there from the bumper skin deforming/tailgate getting punched, but generally seems to need to be a really big hit to damage the floor.

Don't let them use their repairer. Tell them they are responsible for their clients damage and you want it repaired at your repairer, and want nothing to do with their chosen repairer. Compare their repairer and your repairer's quotes, if there's a huge difference get your repairer to go to bat for you claiming it wouldn't be possible to do a proper job for the price their company is charging.

All is looking up this stage.

I'm going through my insurance, Just Cars, they have been great. Had a chat with the assessor, he wants the best result for me. It's going to California Smash Repairs, they gave the most complete quote. Had the choice of sending it to Jack Hillermans but went with the assessors advice.

I just need to sort out an issue with Dayz rear lower lip. The fitting is not yet correct and also requires some extra painting. The workshop is happy to sort the issue out and has asked if I could get some photos of one in place to make sure it's done right.

Could I please ask somebody with a Dayz S2 bodykit to take some photos detailing the three black sections and how the lip sits on the rear bar?

Also has anybody removed one and does it have rubber seal between the lip and bar?

Not my own car, but this might have enough detail for you;

Looks like the blackout sections are actually adhesive vinyl; easier than paint. Maybe you could use a satin finish carbon look film to be a little different?
