(ohh just too add about the autostyle "dyno queens" if you had a car worth over 100k would you thrash the guts out of it just for the sake of it ? i shure wouldnt .....they are more into the drift days anyway .... )

Those cars aren't worth $100k (perhaps to build in the first place yes, but not second hand from japanese auctions) but I respect that they are expensive and prized possessions, and understand that they might not want to run them too hard and risk blowing them up...

As for "just the sake of it"? Surely, running the cars at a dyno day just to show it off when you already know what power it makes is more trivial than actually using the car as the original builders intended? Maybe we have different ideas about what things are "just for the sake of it"... I don't consider chasing a 1:45 at eastern creek or a 10 second pass "just for the sake of it"... I consider that "actually using the cars the way they should be used"

And morlock: Dom (Autostyle King-Banana) is a very good driver... He's an excellent drifter :)

Well at Flying 5th at Bathurst last year Autostyle had 2 GTR's FLYBYE and DARDVL everybody was talking about how much power they have for so long and when race time came down Conrod Straight Both got beaten by a decent number of cars like GTiR's,A Holden Ute (winner) and almost everyday WRX's and VL turbos. Seriously with the power FLYBYE had it should of Annihalated all the cars there but it got Done.

All i see are big KW numbers on dynos but no real life good old black top 0-400M times.

No disrespect to the owners of the cars they are very nice and everything but how about instead of giving us dyno numbers give us Track numbers?

oh and i PERSONALLY think if your going to rock up to a race track with your "race" car and proudly showoff KW numbers you should also RACE IT to prove those power numbers.

8,000rpm not usable? ... doesnt that depend if they had a 13,000rpm redline or not ???:) :)

i don't think anyone should be told how and when they should use their own cars...some people just arent comfortable bringing it onto the track, wether it be one with corners or 400m of bitch-umen :)

perhaps they dont want to expose themselves and advertise their cars? perhaps they can't afford to break anything? perhaps they are just shit scared???

whatever the case is - its their perogative.

Very true Franks,

...but it is also our perogative to feel that it's a waste of such beautiful machinery to have them sitting in the carpark of drag racing events, when that's what those cars were built to do... (What else would such a power curve be useful for?)

mmmm each has there own ideas of what cars should and should not do .... i just build my car to perform on and off the track personally .... i couldnt build a car too have it sit there and gather dust .... hell no ..... ill be out there scaring my self around or down a track hehe bet that S@^T !!!!!

ENTYSU "i just build my car to perform on and off the track personally .... i couldnt build a car too have it sit there and gather dust .... hell no ..... ill be out there scaring my self around or down a track hehe bet that S@^T !!!!!"

I like that thinking

Merli: I agree 100%

i know the owner of the GTiR you are referring to.

It came 2nd Overall. its teh same GTiR that made 271kw at this dyno day.

The Ute, had a big supercharger fitted. Then blew up the motor after the event.

There was some lambos that were beaten by the ute and gtir, and a ferrari....

Apparently both dardvl and flybye recorded 2 very fast times. 260kph or so?

But half way through the day the officials changed where the timing markers where.

They made them closer.

So they then 'ammended' times done before the move. So both GTRs had worse times...

This is how the owner of DAREDVL told me.

btw - I've ben to wakefield at teh same time as him too - so hes out there having a bash.

Besides all this - I spoke to my mate who came second outright that day - and knew nothing about amended figures, etc etc.

he just thought the gtrs didnt do that well.

My mate collected his trophy at the end of the day etc etc.

I do find it very hard to beleive these cars wouldnt of won that day.

they DO have the speed...

amen to that!! unless of course youhave a replacement box and a tilt tray waiting for you. There is a certain R32 GTR i know of that has run a sub ten second pass in japan that is out here potting around with some serious hardware on it... The only problem is they can't get a box to hold up behind it and they don't have the budget for a hollinger... what a dilemna hey?!?
