Hey guys,

i know it sounds like a strange question to ask, but im looking to save abit of cash here, so the question is how would i go about converting a R34 GTT to a non-turbo, just because i've found alot of the GT's for sale are expensive and many are automatic.

My girlfriend is searching for a R34, and shes still on her P1s so shes got ages to go, but im just woundering what would be involved, ive done abit of searching over the net havnt found much, but im guessing you would have to get a RB25 non-turbo exhaust manifold and new pipes to air filter from the throttle body, and remove the front mount ( if there is one ), probably alot more to it like ECU stuff etc. Well shes expecting me to do it, so gonna get a heads up.

Well any info would be sick. Thanks in advance guys

Lucas.

oh not this shit again..... this has been asked many time.

long story short, while it can be done, it will result in a car that is still illegal to drive (as it is registered as a turbo vehicle) and it will have about as much power as a ford festiva (and no i'm not joking, since the turbo motor runs lower compression than the natro, so once you take the turbo off it will much noticably less power than a stock natro).

better off spending the money on a natro version, or saving the money and buying a cheap run around and saving the money until she is off her P's.

hmm i get where ur coming from, and i hate when that happens. Sorry to anoyy you mate, i searched here like 10 times different key words and it showed nothing , did google search all it was converting from N/A to turbo not the opposite. Sorry again

I've done similar searches and can vouch for this statement.

Begin your 2/3 years of hatred for the government and that constant sickness in your stomach whenever you think about owning a nice car.

Been doing it for around 2 years now. My lifes on hold until I can get my full license so I can get a R32 GTR and be done with all this bullshit.

Problem is

1. Car is still illegal, its build plated as turbo

2. The lower compression turbo motor, that is now a N/A, will be even more of a slug than the normal N/A

The amount it'll cost you to rip all the turbo gear off, and put N/A stuff on... Will never be seen/returned via fuel economy or whatever. It'll take you 5-10 years to recoup the 4 figures such a conversion would cost

And then you have a car thats worth even less - and have to convert back to sell

I want to make one thing clear before I say this. This comment is not directed at you, it is a generisation

Anyway:

The amount of idiot P-Platers I see in V6 commodores, Falcons, Magnas, smaller cars as well is beyond a joke. I see that many trying to "drift" or do hektic skids that It's not even funny anymore. I was never on P-Plates, I got my license before all the new laws came out. But I started in a VL Calais, got all the stupid shit out of my system in that, and bought my Skyline a year before I got off my P's. To be perfectly honest, I've never felt like a better driver then I do now, I look back on some of the shit I did and think WTF was I doing.

Like I said, this isnt a stab at you, you could be the best driver in the world. But the P-Plate laws arent just there cause the government felt like screwing everyone over. I dont agree with some of the laws in the P-Plate category, but I agree with the main principle.

Musn't have searched that hard:

And finally notice the list here, in only one section of the forum:

http://www.skylinesa...h&fromMainBar=1

And notice how nearly all the threads are locked. That's how common this question is.

As I have said time and time again. The logic behind people thinking they can get around the P plate restrictions be removing a turbo is the same as thinking of removing two spark plugs out of a V8 to make it legal...

Should it just be a forced pop-up on a members first entry on SAU stating:

-You can't take the turbo off a turbo car

-You can't take the turbo off a turbo car to drive it on P's

-No, anything over an 18" wheel will look stupid

-Flutter is bad mmmkay?

-Your NA 2.0L R32 WON'T beat anything, and a pod filter WON'T help, and you will not beat a 3.5 Magna, especially one with a cat-back

-Don't post about street racing, street drifting or streets ice-creams, the thread will be closed, you will get flamed

-The best turbo for your GTST is the one that suits the rest of your mods, power output needs, budget, and drivea-bility concerns

-300rwkw, give or take for maintenance and initial condition

ahhh.. found the thread I was looking for..... have a read of this..... sucks because attachment seems to have gone :(

really weird to picture because it was... basically the guy removed the front housing of the turbo and the core, leaving just the rear housing attached to the turbo manifold, welded a plate over the large hole where the cartridge's blades were meant to go and left the rest of the exhaust system the same...

you'll see the responses...

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/300900-putting-a-turbo-back-in/page__hl__lol

you missed one or two......

power,reliability,cheap pick 2 out of the 3.

No, the ebay "t3/t4" "hybrid" "TO4E design" "stage 1/2/3" turbo for $299 is not special, it will eat your motor first drive.

And...

-That turbo will make as much power as the manufacturer says it can, provided they're not full of s**t or a el-cheapo brand and if it's set up properly on the right engine
