i have done a bit of searching on this topic but everyone has different opinions. my question is

is a profec b or ebc similar worth it or not. im going to be running a atr43G3 with a high pressure actuator from hypergear. i also have a turbotech boost T. now im not going to be looking at switching boost levels and just leaving it at one pressure. would i be best just using the T and bleeding a few psi and using the actuator to do most of the work?

i think ebc's are just if you want to run various boost levels

they can bring boost on earlier by blocking pressure with a solenoid but the turbotech controllers are supposed to do that too

The profec B also doubles as a boost gauge ;)

I passed the pits fine with my profec B and the control unit is on top of the steering column so not exactly hidden.

As for bringing boost on earlier, I fail to see how a spring and a ball can do that better than a solenoid which is either open or closed.

Yes it is, allows the turbo to come onto boost a tad earlier than a ball bearing valve

EBC > Ball Bearing Valve > Bleed Valve

In the past, to bring on boost a tad earlier, I would set the gain on the EBC so it would actually spike a tad over my desired boost levels. This brought on boost nice and strong and earlier, also added the advantage of various boost settings. Great for when you lead your car to someone or letting a female drive it.

yeah all this info i have read i dont need a boost guage i already have one and for boost coming on a little earlier doesnt bother me to much as its a street driven car

Street driven car and you're not fussed about response? I'm running an ATR43G2 which is brought on a little earlier by a Greddy Profec II, and I find it too laggy.

letting a female drive it.

well yes and no to response but what a few hundred rpm ealier doesnt bother me if i want the response off a set of liights i would launch with higher rpm

Lag is lag. I thought the same thing when I decided not to go ball bearing. But a few hundred rpm better response would be very welcome now.

yeah i see what your saying i drove a mates vlt around for a month or so with a rb30 with a gt35/82 so i soon got used to the lag haha

but i see exactly what you are saying i might stick to bleeding off a few psi see how i go if i get sick of the lag ill go a ebc
