Hi guys,

I'm in the Market for a new car and have been looking into the new HSV GTS E3 range with a walkinshaw package. However the price is tipping into the JDM r35 price range.

I havnt seen too many that I've liked on carsales and would preferr a black one.

Just wondering if anyone is considering selling their black JDM r35? Or if anyone knew of alternative websites that may be advertising.

Cheers

for a car that expensive would you want a JDM r35 thats not covered by any warranty here in Australia?

why not buy ADM?

This.

If you do buy the JDM make sure your confident of driver/launch history. Or have many thousands of dollars ready in case you blow the transmission.

The JDMs are pretty tough, you would be unlucky to have problems with transmission and they are not that

dear to fix (unless you grenade it completely!) The HSV is a nice cruise car but not anywhere near the league

of the R35 GTR.

I never worried about factory warranty when I bought my 2008 R35 and other than a broken synchro ring

(which was unusual and just bad luck) that car never missed a beat. I tracked it a number of times and drove

the ring out of it up in the hills and it just loved it - thats what these cars are built for.

I have heard stories of GTRs that are babied and never taken out of auto mode and they seem to have more issues

with trans then the hard driven ones.

Case in point - Keir's Willall racing GTR. That would have to be the most thrashed R35 in the country. It has spent

hundreds of hours out at Mallala being taken to its limits and still has the original transmission going strong!!!.

Besides, if a factory part does break wouldn't it be better to upgrade it and put something better in anyway!

You could always buy that cheap white JDM in Qld and just paint it!

Totally agree, they are tougher than most think, and if something does break a) they aren't that exxy to fix and b) you wouldnt want nissan to fix it or necessarily use stocker parts. Not unless ou just drive the car on sundays as a cruiser anyway. And if you're just doing that, buy the HSV or something else.

Forum member 'Giant" is wishing to sell his black JDM, it is a caged car with forged engine, upgraded box, consult, everything though. Probably not what you're looking for if you're cross shopping with the Haitch eSs Vees though I dare say.

The only reason i am going for a JDM instead of a ADM is due to my budget. Unless someone is willing to sell their ADM at JDM prices i dont think i could be thinking about ADMs.  Just test drove a 2010 M3, very nice car but pretty much a wank factor. If i cant get my hands on a decent JDM r35 i think i may just have to take the pludge on a new HSV GTS with the walkinshaw package.  400rwkw with Warrenty and anti-epa is a decent deal.

if only that JDM white r35 in QLD was black!! Call me crazy but im not the biggest fan about changing the paint colour of a 100,000 car. Much rather keep it the standard colour.

Yes painting one would be a big hassle I agree. None of the R35s advertised are moving.

I sold mine for $115000 and just got lucky with the perfect buyer. Why dont you make the

guy in NSW with the black one at $125000 a low offer? Worst he can do is say no!

M3s are nice cruise car for everyday use but that 400nm is just SO soft. I had a young buyer

test drive my tuned R35 and it scared him so he bought an M3. Soft option...........

Here is the best colour.

I'm a "blue man" myself Munro, looks superb mate.

I'm so pleased they seem to have finally got the 35 where they probably really wanted it to begin with, but of course they need to keep some things from original release so they can improve :)

I read there's no issues with warranty and launching now.... is this just due to a software change that disallows it or have they actually improved the 'box strength do you know?

the warranty / launching thing disappeared AGES ago when they updated the TCM software in all the cars (effectively reducing the Launch RPM from 4,500rpm to 3,000rpm).

Interestingly the DBAR35 has a higher launch rpm again though.

There was (and I think still is??) a warranty issue with the VDC being turned off however.

And in the early cars you HAD to turn the VDC off to use the LC - but you don't any more.

yeah look at giants car for sure. i mean it's a bit hardcore for a daily with cage etc but all very nicely done and bullet proof now. I know the history of it too. he bought it off me. :) it was brand new, I bought it from a dealer in kokura, kyushu japan, shipped to aus still brand new with less than 80kms on it, still wrapped in plastic and Russ has been the only aus owner and has upgraded the hell out of it. it goes like the clappers now.

oh, and it's BLACK!

can't find Russ's on the web, but pm 'giant' on this forum. it's his car.

I did find Quins car though. even better it's an ADM, has some gear on it and he's asking $95K. I'd snap it up if I were you. it's also black. :)http://www.my105.com/ListingDetails/tabid/65/p/1/k/R35/sid/4/id/4960/Default.aspx

 maybe quinn will give me a commission?! or maybe you will for saving you dough!? haha, it certainly is keenly priced. hope you get it mate. it's ADM for the price of a race only JDM. not to mention it being a targa winning car this year. should still be pretty fresh. I can't think of a better car for $95K.

    • Are these the Dmax ones you are in reference too? https://justjap.com/collections/driveshafts-bearings/products/d-max-reinforced-replacement-rear-driveshaft-set-fits-nissan-s13-s14-s15-r32-r33-r34-c35#description Not a bad idea to get the uni flange ones. I have sent just jap an email too. Will see what they say lmao. Only thing is the Dmax ones are on a big back order. Low key anything will be better then my OEM ones I got as they are sounding like popcorn when I go under load lmao 😂☠️🪦.
    • They should do. I have S14 (or something S chassis, anyway) driveshafts in my R32 (because my diff flanges have 3x2). They're the right length. When you go looking for R32/3/4 driveshafts (for turbos), they're all the same thing, so are the same length. So there really shouldn't be any reason why those cheapies from JJ won't also fit an R34. R32/3 NA should also be the same thing. The (3x the price) D-Max ones are uni-fit. They have 5x1 and 3x2 bolt holes and say they cover all the cars. So that would also suggest that they are all the same except for the flanges. And in that case, the flange goes both ways. I'd be buying the D-Max ones if I ever have to replace a shaft. Because that will open up diff options without needing to juggle shafts also. Juggling shafts is gay.
    • Yeah with the adaptors they do look like the photo above - just the fitment within the plenum itself and then further with the rail to the intake is questionable - we shall see tomorrow hopefully once I get some replies from Aeroflow, maybe those bosses are the missing piece....
    • Should be fine, if you have it sitting too far in, you end up just spraying the walls and have shit idle. You "can" run them like that, however I don't think it's a great idea (also depends on your plenum, might be good to just get the injector bosses first, mock it up and see if you need to get the bottom extension) Ideally your injectors, with the extension should look like this  (Not my photos, just Google)
    • Thanks for the replies guys, it's really appreciated.  It seems the kit was supposed to come with those injector bosses but hasn't. Unsure if they'll help as even with the adaptors to make them a 3/4 height injector they still sit too far out so mount the fuel rail?
