Hi Guys,

I'm newbie to this forum...so sorry in advance if these questions has already been answered.

I bought myself a very nice 2003 V35 which i'm loving it!!! I have to service my car and I'm currently looking for a V-Series specialist that can service my car now and in the future.

I live in Sydney near Parramatta and was hoping if anyone in this forum can help me by recommending me a service mechanics that will take good care of my car and do a proper service without ripping me off

Also just another question,

Does anyone have problem with the car slipping all the time?? My car slip even when i turn from a stopping position. For example say if i wanted to turn right into a street, i give a little gas and the wheel slip, the slip light come on for a sec and then it goes away and then i have control of my car. My heart skips a beat every time this happens. Could it be that i have the wrong wheels on my car or is this something that i should expect from all real wheel cars????

Im not to sure about the Parramatta area but give tunehouse at Marrickville a call if you want to make the trek. I take my V35 there. It cost me about $300-$400 for the initial service because they go over the whole car and now it costs me around $100 for services after providing i don't need new parts.

As for your traction problem it is most likely the tires and that u need new ones. Or you need to take it a lil easy on the gas

Is your car newly imported and it is your first service since or did you buy 2nd hand. This will make a big difference in the cost for your first service for the car.

I am not precisely sure of the rules about naming suppliers here, but I use and recommend Hills Motorsport in Castle Hill. That's maybe 10km from your "Parramatta area" requirement.

It shouldn't happen unless you want it to happen. FM cars have a lot of rear end grip. What tyres is it on? If the car's on the tyres it was complied with chances are they're cheap PoS' like Nankangs. Even then, my car doesn't really spin up on Nankangs unless I'm really aggressive on the throttle.

Called a few guys and found the Hills Motors and the tunehouse to be very friendly and also they seem to know what they talking. Will be taking my car they tomorrow and will update you all on the best quote.

My car was imported in Feb 11 and I was 1st drive in Australia as told by my dealer....I got the car checked by State Road car inspection guys and they gave a good report abt the car, however just would like to double check this a good mechanics.

The wheel on my car is Bridgestone Tires POTENZA RE92A P235/50R17 95V, which i have no idea what this mean and how i would read this. So I dont knw if this the right tires for my car.

Hope someone can help me understand the above.

He's not a V-Series specialist, but he is a Nissan specialist (along with Hondas these days) with quite a few Z33 customers.

Hi Guys,

Sorry it has been a very long time since I posted the initial question, I have finally found time to update you all on where i'm with my car, if you care

I took my car to Hills Motors sports for my 1st full service but the experience was very good they guys were very helpful, and they car is running a little better!!

However there are still a few thing that i needed to get done and due to the parts order i have to wait, which sucks

My car is saying that its only done 44,000 km ( i'm doubting this very much ) so i wanted a major service to be done and also i haven't done any service to my car since i bought the car in Feb from a dealer.

So for my 1st Major full service i got the following done,

• All oils changed,
• brake fluid flush,
• coolant flush
• A clean of the spark plugs as i have gasket leak

It costed me around $600 bucks

Also during this service the guys notice the following also need to be done,

1) New rocker cover gaskets and seals parts, they quoted me $902.00 parts & labor $440

2) Inner Lower Control Arm bush $129.00 parts and labor $49.50

3) Front tyres were 70% worn out , which i got them done for $155 each at Discount tyres at North Parramatta.

For 1&2 its going to cost me total $1538.50 which i have committed to do with them as i have given them a $500 deposit

So my question to all is,

Has anyone serviced the above parts on the 2003 V35 and if so are are prices mentioned above reasonable?

And lastly I still have to get the jap to eng conversion with TV/Radio tuner, Sat Nav and all....but i bit broke after these service so will have to get around doing this on my next pay

The rocket cover seals is that due to the leaking oil into one of the rear plugs? if it is that is a common issue in the VQ35DE and replacing the seals may not fix the issue i did some reading on it nothing you can realy do to stop it from whati have read

You know what i did to fix mine,

Took off engine cover

Took off all pipes connected to plenum

Took off plenum

went and brought some stainless steel washers that fit under the rocker cover bolts ($2)

Rocker cover gasket $15 + post from usa

Cleaned the area, used a bit of RTV sealant on the edges of the gasket where it has a habit of shifting when you are putting the cover on and no problems since.

If i was you and couldnt do it myself i would buy the parts and then pay them labour.

Oh and if you must buy new rocker covers, get them off ebay for like $100

Now you just saved $800, ill take half

forgot to mention that the washers allow greater pressure of torque to be applied on the rocker cover to keep it on tighter so when it heats and wont warp and cause leaking.

Its just not the seals, i believe they are going to replace the rocker cover gasket kit..which correct me if im wrong is from the spark plug x6, O-rings, seals & head gasket.

Thanks mate, and yeah i will never try this myself ...but the part cost is what is killing me!!! Was looking into this and i cant find anyway that say that the rocker cover gasket kit is worth $900 bucks for my car. So the one u mentioned on ebay for $100 is this form my car and is it the original parts? Planning on calling some people tomorrow (may be even Nissan spare parts) to find the actual cost. They did mention that they are getting the original Nissan parts imported to do this job, probably that why the high cost.

Ok Guys, Just found something that was very interesting to me about this whole Gasket issue with my car that may help others out.

Apparently Nissan V-series from 2003 to 2004 have a rocker cover / head gasket valve issue. Where after certain km ( i think after 70km or after the 3 warranty just runs out) you get oil leaks into the cylinder. This is not a big issue but its best to get it fixed as it affect the engine efficiency and eventually start leaking though the valves to outside.

So from this i can clearly see my car has certainly done more then 44,000km as it show now my odometer..bloody dealer never buying a car form All Imports @ Haberfield again

Its not all bad the car is still great...i still love it and it drives very good, but i just have to spend more money to get there.

Anyway back to the gasket issue so yeah guys have a read of the below website...it has really helped me to understand what is going with my car problem and what the labor work and cost should be to get it fixed.

I strongly suggest to all the peeps that own a V-series from 2003 to 2004 to get these checked.

If I'm wrong or out of line in anything i have said above, i'm happy for ppl to correct me. As im only going by my experience and research that i have done so for.
