Hey guys,

I am new to these forums, and new to owning a skyline.

I got it just over a week ago, and it has an aftermarket headunit in it, which is a pioneer unit from japan. It has a CD and cassette to replace the double din. It also has 4 Pioneer 6.5s (2 door 2 back). When I put a CD in and turn it up to max volume, there is barely any sound coming out of the speakers, there IS sound, you can definitely hear it, it's just really low.

A mate suggested that the head unit could be the problem, what do you skyline enthusiasts think?

I plan on replacing the head unit this week, using the guides I have found here.

sounds dodgy for sure, maybe a grounded speaker .frame using up the power, amp section burned out on the deck. not upping the watts to the proper levels,

attenuation turned on

interior sound mic turned on, high noise = high volume, low noise = low volume some decks have that

does the fader work ?

i take it the fm radio is loud ? if so the deck has the sound EQ for the cd setup on I would suss. ? pioneer uses different eq and sound settings for cd and radio on some radios

wouldnt worry until you ditch the deck, then check the speakers "OHM" load. but if they have a capacitor or xover network you can see mixed numbers other then 4-8ohms

get a installer to do the work, or you might be in for more then you bargain for , a quick fix for a pro or days of ripping your hair out on the forums your choice ?

and welcome to the skyline world, and get a ADR approved alarm first /asap
