M35 2Jz

I'm sure its perfectly do-able - there is a guy in Wellington replacing the RB30 in his Skyline with the Toyota engine - considers it stronger than the RB. But if I ever get an M35 (as well as my C34!) I would be keen to put a VH41 or ideally a 4wd VK56 setup in it.

BTW New Zealand's fastest 1/4 miler is 2JZ powered:

VR38 from R35 is the go if you want to do a transplant, just need to find a gearbox that will cope with it. I love 2J's but it would be too difficult putting one where a V6 used to be.

AWD VK45 from a Cima stroked out to 5.6 would certainly be awesome and is on my "if I win Lotto" list :)

2J > RB

All Toyota needed in the 90's was the GTR's ATTESSA.

A guy I work with has a 500kw supra and it's plenty quick enough.

the quickest supra i've been in was mine :closedeyes:

its nice to dream. but the cold hard facts are that the sheer cost involved in doing such a conversion, makes it completely pointless unless uve got shitloads of cash just lying around. for the money you would spend getting it to work, you could buy a seriously quick supra and prob have enough change to pay for an extension on ur garage to put it in. if you want a quick stag, work the vq. if you want a fast 2jz powered wagon buy the crown or buy a cheap commodore and put a 2jz in that. its been done before and it works well.

20B is the Cosmo had plenty of torque

20B in the Cosmo had the same 407nm as our VQ25det from factory.

Rotarys do have torque, they have HEAPS of torque, but Torque = power / (2*Pi*RPS). So any high power output engine has big torque figures to match, but they make torque at such stratospheric revs and lack ANY torque in the lower revs. So in a real world situation theres none available :thumbsup:

Anyway, sorry about the rant.

To me the idea of replacing a multi award winning, highly advanced platform like the VQ V6 with an out of date lump of iron would be a really bad decision from an engineering perspective. This decission could only be made on personal grounds, so you will need to forget any advice you get from anyone else. If you have a spare $10 grand and want nothing but a 2JZ powered M35 then do it, but don't ever ask anyone what they think about your ride. :thumbsup:
