We'll try again now that we have been given the go ahead from the admins

I've been thinking about logo's and shit for SAU Tas. I thought the best way to do it would be for a heap of people to submit designes, then in say a months time open a poll with all the submitted logo's and decide a winner as a group.

I have attached logos for all the clubs (I couldn't find any for NT or ACT). They are there so we don't end up copying any of them.

Probably will be best if each logo has a version to work on light backgrounds, and a version to work on dark backgrounds. I know there is a few graphic designers in the community, start posting your designs in this thread.

I like the bottom one of these 2:

Very simple and also very easy to read when in a small thumbnail such as above ^.

I really like Autumn33's third logo, really clean and simple.

+1 on this, though the 'Tasmania' could be a little lighter (font wise, not colour) so that it fits nicely without taking over too much :)

if anyone has an idea but no image editing software, get it up here even if it's hand drawn and scanned. If it's a good design someone will take it through the process to smex it up a bit :P

At first I thought this marketing seemed like a bit of a weird first step, but this kind of stuff can make or break this club from the beginning because of how people will perceive us. Very important to get this perfect from the start :)

Great designs there autumn33 pretty similar to what I've come up with actually although mine aren't anywhere near as good. Also like tjhill said mine only have SAUTAS. I hand drew one but then used paint to try and give a rough idea of it but I'm not home tonight so I'll post them up tomorrow after work.

i think the 6th one from the first lot of autumns ones is pretty close with a bit of refining.

i think sticking with the "S" above the au is sticking with the skyline way. and the map of tassie is all thats needed. clean and simple.

but id profer to see a more freestyle type of map of tassie. somthing that still gives the shape but just not as formal as at the end of the day if a club is formed it would be good to think of it is a casual thing, much like the Queensland writing on theres or the ruff scetch wa one.

dont take any of this to hart just throwing my think tank into it all.

so if anyone can scetch somthing like that up it would be good.

oh and the sticker probably doesnt need any background as such. just use the tassie map as the background with the sau on top. so the tas map could be black/white with apropriat writing on top.

The more colours/layers you have on a design the more expensive the will get. In low volume it'll be even worse as you won't order much more than 50-100 initially sheerly due to that cost.

Also the map of Tassie - detailed - won't work as it's too fine/intricate to cut out. So it'll need to be altered as Damo said with a free-hand type thing perhaps done/created.

So aim to pick a "top 3" design wise, and take it to a few companies and work on it from there with what you can/cant and pricing.

Even small things like material used can make/break a sticker and can affect costs. Once you buy 100 you can't just throw em away :)

Try see other examples of their work, and how it easy it is to apply one if possible. You'd be surprised @ how many places make a sticker which looks good, but is so ridiculously hard to attach due to poor glue type or really thick/tough vinyl etc.

Just a few I've mucked around with not upto the same standards as autumn33's but you get a rough idea. I like the first and 3rd one in Autumn33's second batch too.

That's good man, getting the ideas out there is exactly what we need at this point. I like the fact that people aren't competing to create the best logo and are actually attempting to help each other, pretty damned rare to find :)

Also the map of Tassie - detailed - won't work as it's too fine/intricate to cut out.

This is a very good point, images like this don't scale well and this is something which will need to be considered in future. For a good example look at Drifting Tasmania's logo, as pretty as the road is it's not scalable and often you find it blurred, jagged edges out and even in this small size you can see artifacts throughout the image. The colours and gradients used in the text have been set in this image from the beginning, and the original file lost (to the best of my knowledge at least) so they also have issues when blown up to any size greater than what you see there. This is a good logo, and the drifting scene is known by it, but I believe it has restricted their design choices after creation. It's the same with the Labella car designs, they're eye catching and a good design, but I can't look at them without my mind screaming PIXELS PIXELS PIXELS because of the huge amount the design has been blown up to just fit on the car :P </ Rant>

In my personal opinion the logo needs to be clean, with strong but simple fonts, which will scale properly :) This is far harder than it sounds and very vague, but it is definitely worth it in the long run as everything will be based off this initial design.

It's been a couple of years since I've taken up the photoshop brush in anger, and I was never overly comfortable designing branding logo's, but I'll take a stab at tweaking a few designs or making some of my own in the next couple of days.

I think we can get a pretty damned good logo here, maybe the best! (In all honesty, no offence meant, but the look of the QLD and SA logo's make me gag a little :P)

Jay

If the logo is produced in a EPS/Vector format, you won't have problems with scaling bigger or smaller if the design is done properly. A good graphic designer will already know that of course :)

Got it in one ;) All the fonts used above are vector based I believe.

EDIT

Deleted rant, good example of this is here.

do u mean to tell me tassy is getting a club now??? i asked admin about it a while ago.... i was really hoping we could get one going??? un fortunatley at that stage i dont think there was enough interest!

i like the sau in the middle of a tassie map thingy , simplify the tassy thing (and not green) and imo that would look winnah :)

maybe blue tassie to symbolise the old red white and blue nissan race cars?? (i.e red s , white au with the blue map??

    • What are we supposed to be seeing in the photo of the steering angle sensor? The outer housing doesn't turn, right? All the action is on the inside. The real test here is whether or not your car has had the steering put back together by a butcher. When the steering is centred (and we're not caring about the wheel too much here, we're talking about the front wheels, parallel, facing front) then you should have an absolutely even number of turns from centre to left lock and centre to right lock. If there is any difference at all then perhaps the thing has been put back together wrongly, either the steering wheel put on one spline (or more!) off, and the alignment bodged to straighteb the wheel, or the opposite where something silly was done underneath and the wheel put back on crooked to compensate. Nut there isn't actually much evidence that you have such a problem anyway. It is something you can easily measure and test for to find out though. My money is still on the HICAS CU not driving the PS solenoid with the proper PWM signal required to lighten the load at lower speed. If it were me, I would be putting either a multimeter or oscilloscope onto the solenoid terminals and taking it for a drive, looking for the voltage to change. The PWM signal is 0v, 12V, 0V, 12v with ...obviously...modulated pulse width. You should see that as an average voltage somewhere between 0V and 12V, and it should vary with speed. An handheld oscilloscope would be the better tool for this, because they are definitely good enough but there's no telling if any cheap shit multimeter that people have lying around are good enough. You can also directly interfere with the solenoid. If you wire up a little voltage divider with variable resistor on it, and hook the PS solenoid direct to 12V through that, you can manually adjust the voltage to the solenoid and you should be able to make it go ligheter and heavier. If you cannot, then the problem is either the solenoid itself dead, or your description of the steering being "tight" (which I have just been assuming you mean "heavy") could be that you have a mechanical problem in the steering and there is heaps of resistance to movement.
    • Little update  I have shimmed the solenoid on the rack today following Keep it Reets video on YouTube. However my steering is still tight. I have this showing on Nisscan, my steering angle sensor was the closest to 0 degrees (I could get it to 0 degrees by small little tweaks, but the angle was way off centre? I can't figure this out for the life of me. I get no faults through Nisscan.
    • The BES920 is like the Toyota Camrys of coffee machines. E61 group head is cool, however the time requirements for home use makes it less desirable. The Toyota Camry coffee machine runs twin boilers and also PID temp control, some say it produces coffees as good as an E61 group head machine.
    • And yes with a full tank it will hit limiter free revving or driving 6B6CDF6E-4094-426D-A9CB-6C553475FE36.mp4
    • One way of putting the fuel surge idea to rest, is that even when in neutral/clutch in or free revving it still has the same issue, it can’t even get to limiter (7800) so to me that says it can’t be g force, I’m not trying to argue I just want to find the f&$king issue 😡
