Did He Break My Injector?

Hey,

So I was in the process of putting my Nismo 555 injectors back into my RB25 rail when I came across a couple that are being difficult, any way as I was out in the shed looking for my silicone spray my effing numpty of a brother in law decided to try and force it in with a pair of adjustable width pliers.

He has managed to push the little cap in the centre of the injector down about 3 mm and then tried to pull it back out. Would this mean that the injector is now stuffed??

If it is stuffed can anybody tell me if you can buy them singularly and point me in a direction on where to get them.

I dont think that little pintle does anything, mine (sards) dont even touch and there is no rubber anymore..but wether or not its ok ,i dont know

Umm, let's just say he is no longer at my house and I don't think he will be back for a while.

I hope the pintle is nothing but I wonder if it has anything to do with helping control flow or something? Like does it move up and down?

you can buy them singularly from Nengun, http://www.nengun.com/nismo/high-performance-injectors... Sorry cant really help you if there broken or not, but Im sure you could take them somewhere to get tested or even test them yourself.

Pretty sure those act like little valves and move up and down.the injector has a solenoid in it. That controls the injector opening and closing. It controls how far it opens. That thing there moves up and down to let fuel pass through. I think it's rooted dude.

Don't stress. I reckon it could be alright. Like Tazzy said get it tested. Put it in ya car and see if it works. If its broken get him to buy you a new one. Rule number one with assembly: If it wont go then check it, everything has its correct way of going together. There is a thread on injector installation on this site somewhere. All my injectors couldn't be pushed in by hand. Sargerx8 ya wrong mate it don't have no fuel up the top there, hence the term "side feed injector". And that bit aint a pintle fella's. Sounds like some blokes need to read up on how injectors are made and work

Yeah my bad for calling it a pintle, I do know how to install injectors btw this is my third time installing them over the years after build ups.

Spewing you let your brother in law have a crack hey?! Get it in the rail and try it man. It might work??? I don't know if it will or not. At the end of the day its not a lot of money to get a new one and if you have to wait a week to get it well that wont kill you. Waiting for car parts makes it all the more worth it when they arrive I reckon. Let us know how you go with whatever you try.

Didn't really let him have a crack at it, I was putting them in the rail inside (it's warmer in front of the fire) when I got a sticky bugger that wouldn't go in. So when I went outside to my shed to get the silicone spray he took it apon himself to have a go at it.

I spose he was just trying to help but still pissed me off, he is in no way mechanically minded so should've just left it alone but what can you do what's done is done.

Anyway I have some good news, I went for a drive down to UAS and showed the injector to Dave (T04GTR) and he has given it the all clear and said it's nothing to worry about.

Apparently the little metal peice is just something that is used in the molding/plastic injection process to give the machine something to hold onto when it's put into a die.

Dave also said he has seen them in MUCH worse states than mine (snapped of completely, bent & even missing altogether) and they still work fine so that's good to know. I trust his judgment as he has a very good rep and has built some wild engines so he knows whats what.

Oh yeah, 1 weeks wait is nothing ATM. The car has been on blocks since November and will still be for a little while yet

I asked the same question, they do have a solenoid in them but you can't see it from the outside. As I said above he has even seen injectors with that part missing and it hasny made a difference. If they where a top feed injector it would be a different story.

Sargerx8 ya wrong mate it don't have no fuel up the top there, hence the term "side feed injector".

I know they are side feed but they way they work is fuel coming in from the side and a valve moving up and down and the pressure in the fuel system will squirt the fuel through the nozzles. I never said fuel goes in from the top, I said its the top of a solenoid which moves up and down controlling fuel flow, which is correct.

If you disconnect the power to the injector, it wont push fuel out. Sure it will get fed into the side but the valve wont move up and allow fuel to be squirted.

The only part I guessed about is that part being a moving part but my concept is correct.
