hahaha why is that??

I was there the other day, with PIGGAZ. Yavuz and us were talking about turbos for GTRs and thinking of stuff that's not just the normal bolt ons and then the tomei turbos came up.

Good on you for trying something new, I'm keen to see actual results against the typical turbo choices for GTR owners :)

Also now you mention it, that place are fantastic for trying new things, instead of the same old setups time and time again. If only there were more people out there willing to try new things.

hahahahaha yeah thats mine.. thanx for the feedback yeah i know why go down the same road thats been done a million times when everyone already knows the figures those 6 or so yr old turbos will put out...

and Don Dada they are a Journal Bearing not bb

i know journal bearings are meant to spool up marginally slower than ball bearing but hey hopefully a good tune and the cams and cam gears will help out, tomei dyno graphs show that the turbos come on around 4000-4500 rpm with the supporting mods they list so im quite happy with that

Maybe I've missed it, but where is the graph you're referring to?

nothing wrong with 6 yr tubz if it's still able to out perform the current tomei offering, journal bearings are outdated

I saw ur car (GTR 7OY) as mine was getting tune touchup the other day, nice car, hope u get the result you want

Really zoom in on the graph, 2.8l + Poncams.. I wouldnt exactly call a 2.8l stroker kit w/ cams supporting mods... and if it took that engine to spool them to there at 4000-4500rpm.. then I would be alittle worried.

Looks like would be around 200-220rwkw @ 4500rpm

With a 2.8 stroker, cams, manifolds (and who knows what else)... 24psi to make ~360-380rwkw.

I think ouch...

Comparing them to "-5s" they have a much tighter trim wheel on the compressor side (less flow), but larger exd wheel. So potentially would explain why they dont make the top end with such a small trim not getting the air in.

Simlar rear to a -5 though, just larger trim so effectively more flow, and lag. Add in journal bearing as well...

I am not of confidence having seen that PDF

I wonder why they didnt compare the R34 N1, and chose a 20yr old R33 N1 lol :D

Still be interesting to see the results none the less.

It was probably cheaper, and they could make more money out of it.

the more you stroke the less revs you get but the more power so i dont see what that has to do with the spool of the turbos i could be wrong ???

Not neccesarily correct. A 2.8ltr stroker will have the same, if not more RPM capability. Depends on the head as well.

Howver 8000rpm is no problem for a 2.6 or 2.8 with a factory head.

A stroker is just shifting the power band to the right, so given you are 2.6 - move the graph to the left.

Tomei do pride themselves for being engine management specialists i dont really think they are out there to rip off people off... considering all their parts are top of the range...

and yeah i do agree with what you said about the stroke when you put it into that perspective..

guess we will find out in week when i get results fingers crossed... im sure ill be happy whatever the result only aiming for 350 awkw dont want to push the stock engine to hard and

it is only a street car

Thanx for all your input everyone

    • find it funny everyone claims different fuel chains, do different things with their fuel blah blah blah. We don't have that many fuel terminals in Australia. The fuel tanker trucks drive into the terminal, fill up, and drive directly to the service station and dump out. The majority of fuel you get, is coming out of the same terminals. The variation is actually at the individual service stations and how good their tanks are, as well as how much turn over they actually have. Older fuel stations, that haven't had their tanks replaced are going to end up with the worst fuel. Also a lot of older stations have shit design, and shit maintenance, and end up with more water absorption into the tank. This is when you then get a bad batch of fuel. Other shit things happen, like tanker drivers have a f**k up, and starting to unload the wrong compartment on their truck into the wrong tank.
    • This one?? In other news: I cannot tell the difference between my red MX5 with the silver grey hard top......... and the Ferrari 599XX EVO, they might as well be twins, well.......apart from the big wang hanging off the back of the Ferrari...🤔🤣, without the wing they are identical

    • I think you'll find we're confused about what you were trying to do and how you were doing it. I would have thought that block rigidity was something you measured while loading the block in beam or in torsion, and that you would do so before and after grout filling, to see if putting material in there created a "composite" construction with the expected rigidity increase. Notwithstanding that the true function of grout is less about gross rigidity than local (ie preventing bore deflection/splitting and tying the bores to the main bearing locations a little better, etc etc). It is nearly impossible to follow your description of what you've done without closing ones eyes and making "aliens" hand shapes in front of oneself to try to follow the manipulations you've made. It's still unclear to me what you were trying to prove.
