Is this cooler big enough?

G'day guys, I have a fmic sitting here which is 300x250x50 (not very thick).. how many kw at the wheels will this cooler be good for on my 180sx? 2l manual? i know it depends on flow rate etc but i just want a rough idea? as i want 220rwkw some day. thanks

You can't go off the size really.. it's all about how much heat the thing can soak up and how well the air flows through it.

E.g a Huge truck cooler will never work as well as a well designed cooler 1/4 it's size..

Best value for money is a fmic off a GTR I believe they will support around 350hp and can be had for around the $600-$700 mark depending on age and condition. Then you just need to get some pipes made up and then fitted, if your good with tools you can probably fit the cooler/pipes/do any trimming yourself. A mate of mine did this with his 180sx and I think it cost him about $1k tops and made a huge difference in performance.

300x250x50 sounds a litttle small however, its not always size that matters like rob77 said.

if you evertually want 220rwkw dont waste ure money to get piping made for it, not really cheap unless you r gonna go for mild steel which would rust and look ugly.

just get a full kit for about $1200 (600*300*76) or go to a performance or exhaust shop to make and fit one for about $1500, both should be good for about 400hp at wheels
