hey everyone,

Just wanted to warn you that there is a car thief/thieves stealing cars in the Banks/Conder area. Last night my friend had his r32 stolen from our house at sometime between 12-1 am. The car was parked outside on an area of kerb and rocks in our front yard, and was rolled down the hill a few streets down to a dead end where the bastards stole a bunch of things, the worst being both his wallets (unfortunately he had left them in the car overnight). The car has an alarm and immobiliser fitted, but they have somehow bypassed the alarm and got inside the car, before popping the bonnet and pulling out fuses for the engine control and the immobiliser. The ignition barrel was also shorn off (they must be using some pretty heavy tools) and the wires were cut. Apparently they were trying to hot wire the car when a man who lives in the nearest house returned home from work at 1 am and they fled the scene with whatever they could grab. Now these people are obviously quite good at what they do, and are doing it quite regularly because I was actually up until 2 am in the front room of the house playing xbox at the time. Not only did I not hear the car get stolen, but the dog didn't even wake, so they obviously do it very quickly and quietly. The odd part is that I'm fairly sure they cut the power to the house briefly as a distraction because I heard a clicking noise, then the T.V and lights went out. They scope out their target prior to the job as well, because they walked to my house (there was no car to take them there, leading me to think it is someone local). Now Luckily my dad's r34 was parked on the driveway (which is very steep, therefore they wouldn't be able to push it) because i'm sure they would have gone for this too, and my brother's s15 if he had been home last night. If your car is parked out on the kerb, I urge you to park it in a safer place closer to your house because not long ago another r32 was stolen from Banks as well. It would also be a good idea to put one of those steering lock clubs over the steering wheel, as anything that prevents them from rolling the car away will no doubt help your cause. Keep an eye out for any suspicious people you may see walking up to cars etc. because I would sure hate to be the people doing this when we find them.

Sounds pretty similar to what they did to my R32. The police said my one was dumped in Gordon, and it was stolen from Yarralumla, so I assume they are from the southside some where.

I really wonder what police do all day and why they waste so much time pulling me over for driving normally. I would understand if I was doing something silly but the lazy bums wouldn't even come when the thieves came back to steal my R31.

Never had a car stolen but had a few cars broken into (the GTR included!) and always made me angry that the police never came and never seemed to care when reported.

Dodgy bastards, so shit that you can't even feel safe parking your own car outside. I will NEVER EVER leave the GTR parked anywhere that's not a locked garage due to all these stories! Or if I do they'll have an angry Kat jump out with a crowbar trunk monkey style! :domokun:

ask around on the DL if you know the right wrong people, then engage the services of some serious real bad asses

ever been gaffa taped and driven in the boot of a car to a remote place and had the shit beaten out of you. 2-3 days later made your way back. Makes you think a littl bit about taking something you dont own.

Update: If you were watching the news just then, you would have heard that 14 cars were jacked just last night down south. This was obviously planned for quite a while, and in thinking there were have been at least 2 guys to push a car, that's like 28 guys involved (or so you would think) ??

Oh I'm just waiting for them to come back for the 34 tonight, golf club to the knees, K.O, when they wake up they can have a nice chat with my dog whilst tied to the clothes line :)

I assume you mean jacked as in stolen... not car jacked.

Really sorry about your mates R32, certainly sounds like they knew what they were doing :( I am not particularly paranoid about my car... it's my only transport so I have to take it places and insurance will cover it... but it's always a good thing to use your head and think a bit. Like those guys the other week in the R33 at the ATM (if we got the full story).

Unfortunately Richard's ideas or what happened to f**kwit Mully are the only way they'll learn.... the system is a joke and they're right back out there doing it again.

Its only gonna get worse unfortunately.

These degenerate thugs running about taking what isn't theirs will get karma kicked in the teeth soon enough.

Especially if one of us catches them.

I reserve a special punishment for deadbeats that mess with other peoples cars :domokun:

Just a point of interest for everyone here who doesnt want their pride and joy stolen...

A friend of mine is a Police officer and he has responded to hundreds of calls for stolen cars in his time in the force. His advice to me has always been buy a steering wheel (Club) lock and use it every time you park your car no matter how safe you think it is.

Car theives don't bother with cars that have a good quality steering wheel lock fitted as they take too long to remove, so they move on and find another car that is easier prey.

A good quality Club lock is about $60 - $80, so ask yourself whether its worth spending such a small amount to potentially save you thousands in repairs or an insurance excess (or worse).

I've been using Club locks for at least 10 years and have never had a car stolen.

Just some advice, take it or leave it. :)

    • Hey lads, reviving an old thread.  As an update, since the last time replied to this thread, ive done mostly suspension. Havent touched the motor except for maintenance. Though upon changing spark plugs, found out i had splitfires pre-installed! Updates: - Got me some stock airbox top cover and snorkel to fit onto the original intake. Should be free of defects - Bought a set of R34 GT-T brakes (not installed yet, going to rebuild + respray in champion blue + white 'Nissan' text) - Bought the last set of bilsteins from @Sydneykid and had them installed. Has been making some sounds on the rear but hopefully should be sorted out after this New Year break. - Regreased front caster rod bushings (poly bushes..) - Rear upper camber arms - Whiteline sway bars (BNF27Z 22mm + BNR11XXZ 24mm).  The rear sway bars are a bit short (ive read 50mm else where) but was still able to get them in.  Anyhows, I reckon suspension is sorted now. Maybe replace bushes (do have a set of front upper control arms from SK not installed yet) but should be okay for now. From now, I'm wanting to start working on the motor, drivetrain etc etc. Still debating on the order to go on and what to buy etc but: - ECU ( Haltech or Link ( Link states that it dont support A/T or AWD functions... Can anyone attest to this? ) - Highflow turbo ( ATR43ss2 ) - Intercooler ( Not decided yet, but cant find many good afoordable ones. Toshi says to opt for crossflow Japanese. Bit difficult this one, unless I get a returnflow Blitz from JJ? ) - Injectors ( Any recommendations ? I do have a nismo FPR ( Thanks SK ) ) - Seats - Tune by either Toshi or DVS To be fair, I did consider just keeping the stock turbo and nistuning it. Sat in a mates stock N, that had something like 200kw, and I reckon that felt more than enough. Maybe I should just go this route ahhaha. Too many choices.... Planning a trip down south, so wanting to just clean things up and make sure it gets to and from in one piece. Anything else specifically I should do before ? Cheers lads
    • Must be for the car’s lucky charm 🤷🏽‍♂️ She runs fine, but it just seems to take about 1L less. Maybe I’ll have the oil sump dropped at some point to check if there is anything
    • Hmmm interesting. Mine is the exact same and clearly the right one.  The mystery of the engine oil being full after 3.5-4L continues
    • Yes I as well would like to find out where I could get some of the seat material with the red or blue small squares in it
