Thought Id start a proper thread.

I have been doing alot of reading on the R33. I mean a lot of reading.

A big war between GTST and GTR. Luckily I think I know what I want.

Down to my questions.

If a GTR has been looked after, and I do the same. Will it spit in my face and give me problems? Basically what Im asking is, seeing as these cars are getting quite a few k's on them now, are they reliable.

I know the RB26 is one strong mother.

When I inspect a car, proper visual inspection of body, common rust spots, and engine bay, Is it safe to presume that if its clean and passes a compression test and she drives well, that all is well? I was also thinking of getting a mechanic to give it a once over.

Also will any oil leakage or anything like that be noticeable if I take it for a drive and then inspect it? (just incase the person spent a lot of hours cleaning all the goop off)

thanks for youre time (and sorry if you think im waisting it)

Hi mate, welcome to the forums. First thing i would suggest, is tracking down a competent mechanic who has VERY SOLID knowledge of the gtr skyline. I was much less thorough when buying my gtst, but hey- the gtst was extremely cheap to begin with, and the cost of parts are next to nothing, the gtr is quite different. Rebuild prices on the engines of these things are much, much dearer as far as im aware!

Anyway, as a bare minimum i would check this thread, some great tips for the skyline buyer in here. I know if it was me though, i would pay a work shop for a thorough inspection for peace of mind.

Edit-i got beaten to it haha

And to recommend to you a workshop familiar with all aspects of the RB26, where are you?

It pays to get the right one first up, with history and low kms, so it won't bite you back.
