slippylotion
Hey guys Looking at getting a 3" metal core high flow cat to use in a new front pipe. Looked on Ebay and found the "BOKKA" and "KENOBI" 100 and 200 cpsi cats. They are pretty cheap going for under $200 delivered. From what I can see most of the brands on Ebay appear to be the same cat from the same manufacturer, just badge with different names. I know they more than likely arent ADR compliant and Euro emissions compliant like they say (not too worried about this) but I wanted to know if anyone has used them and what the quality is like. Im interested to know if the core has held together or started to fall apart. Also are people going more for the 100 cpsi over the 200 cpsi? I found a flow test result from Cateran showing that a competitors 200 cpsi flows about 50 cfm less than their 100 cpsi. This would make the 200 cpsi a reasonable choice as it may help keep the exhaust slightly quieter. Thanks guys Edited June 29, 2011 by slippylotion Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/369440-3-100200-cpsi-ebay-brand-cat-converters/ Share on other sites

Commsman
I bought the Bokka 100 cpsi one a little while ago. Was impressed by the quality, especially for the price. It remains to be seen if it lasts for 10 years or more... slippylotion
I thought they would have a temp sensor in the cat like the earlier turbo Nissans have. slippylotion
Just get the catco one from justjap 170 + postage I think Na there no good as they are a 400 cpsi ceramic core. Not much better than a factory cat. slippylotion
3 inch inside and will pass EPA testing, might cost you 1 or 2 kW unless you are running big power At one stage I ran a 400 cpsi ceramic "high flow" 3" cat on my 180SX and it blocked up in 6 months. We couldnt work out why the car had lost a heap of power and couldnt hit high boost when it was on the dyno. Pulled out the cat to find it had half blocked. I wont run a ceramic core cat again after that. JayM35
Unbolt cat.. Smashed screw driver inside it... Bolt cat back up.. Hollow... But I have a feeling Aus laws may not like this? In NZ as long as the cat is in place it's legal, they don't test emissions or if it's got its internals lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/369440-3-100200-cpsi-ebay-brand-cat-converters/#findComment-5888881 Share on other sites
slippylotion
Any of you guys running a turbo back exhaust finding the boost increases over standard due to the extra flow? SMOKEYV35
pretty sure it has to be above 200cpi to pass EPA. won't get hot enough otherwise, and the infra red thermometer won't detect a significant enough temp difference. that being said, i'm so tempted to grab a decat pipe........ i've got a 3" catco, inspected it recently and it seemed fine - but hate knowing there is kw's getting eaten up in there.......that being said, it would not compare to how stupid i would feel if i got done by the cops/EPA for running an illegal cat setup - the fine alone would put me in debt for months. I hear you. Luckily it looks like I have a functioning cat in the 180SX and I rarely drive it these days also. I do have a bolt in Jap 200 cpsi cat for it but just too lazy to bolt it in. I like the extra power of a hollow cat but dont like the increased noise of the exhaust. I dont want the M35 to be like this! bigkevracer
Any of you guys running a turbo back exhaust finding the boost increases over standard due to the extra flow? Yep. Andrew promised around 3 pound and a significant power gain. I got both. Mind you thats my impression. Hasn't been on a dyno... yet...
