No heat issues here, and my turbo used to get very hot, no sheilding. The spring should lose tension and lower boost if there is a problem, there's 6 or more stageas running this setup with no complaints yet.

This thread has me thinking. Here is my story hope someone can help. I installed a hypergear atr43 SS-1 and after putting the smaller actuator on it runs about 6-7psi as it should until it gets high in the revs(above 4000) and rockets it's way to boost cut. Is my wastegate too small? Is my actuator wrong? Any input appreciated :D

The wastegate hole is too small, to open it up much more than stock you will need to put a larger flap on it. The upside, it should make more power then. The downside, with a larger hole there is more area for manifold pressure to be pushing the flap open, so you may need a stiffer spring/actuator.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldnt heat (over time) work harden the metal therefore increasing spring tension? Or do you figure the fact its constantly made to move (while heated) it would more likely fatigue and soften the metal?

Actually HG's wastegate controller is now built into the housing.. It has an alen key adjustment that reduces flapper surface area to make them hold more boost up top. You will need to speak to Stao about adjusting this OR you can leave it alone until you put a tap on it and turn the boost up.. Which is what I would do.. Stop thrashing a car thats not tuned lol
