Gtr Seat Recline Knob

Before I start pulling and prying..........

The plastic cover along the passenger side seat is broken, and I want to replace it. How do I get the large plastic knurled knob off that you use to adjust the recline on the seat?

EDIT: Found the secret......it has a wire circlip and is set up similar to window winders on fords/holdens, no proper tool then you have to get in behind the knob with a couple of small screw divers and push it back off the shaft. Then the knob slides off.

Thanks for the info - I also need to pull some seats apart and was a bit stumped on how to get the knobs off.

No probs, be gentle though, the plastic that the cirlip slides into is thin as and could be easily broken.

i used to turn a few mm of the ends up on a fork, just use 2 prongs and bend the rest back.. and you can use it to pull the clip out..works well for those old window winders as well

As far as I remember you can use a tea towel or a thick rope and loop it around and then tighten and it will push the wire clip onto the shaft and thereby opening the legs.

Could be wrong.
