There's more than meets the eye than just getting a hole filled.

Still got all my teeth after 62 yrs but I don't know how long that'll last.

Had to get a rogue tooth out when I was 10.

Had root canal therapy 2x with caps x2.

Still have 8 wisdom teeth that haven't come out and I'm into my 7th decade, so the longer they stay quiet the better.

Never had any bad infections and I wouldn't want any.

I've heard the infections can get into the mandible and kill you.

Had all my mercury fillings out (as I was brought up on unfluoridated water + sugary sweets > caries)

All been replaced.

On the lighter side...

mine could be better. i have a few holes in my teeth that i need to get fixed, but lack of health cover is holding me back. really can't afford to pay the dentists next holiday out of my own pocket (and i can't afford health cover right now either), but then again, health insurance companies pay bugger all of the cost and what it costs me to get it is probably about what it would save me. i also have a wisdom tooth that has come out at a slight angle that is pushing on the others, as well as it sits lower than the others. i've put up with these for a few years now and they don't bother me, but i keep an eye on them.

my boss had a wisdom tooth taken out that had a big hole in it. then developed a dry socket. then the pain killers he was on destroyed his stomach lining.

Earlier this year, had 2 wisdom teeth removed in the chair; one partially erupted (under the gum) and the other fully exposed.

Mr "Partially Erupted" had a pocket of filthy black infection below it when removed, and needed 7 stitches to close the gum. Sockets took several months to close fully; did salt water gargling and reduced alcohol to reduce the likelihood of a dry socket.

The longer you leave troublesome widom teeth, the worse they are to remove; aparrently as time goes by the roots become hooklike, and do more severe damage when finally removed.

These hooked roots can entangle nerves along the jawline and make their removal complex & expensive; something to consider if you have "mobile" wisdom teeth.

Other than that; one root canal and NO fillings! Looking at having veneers done on my 4 upper incisors as I have damage under the enamel that it a bit unsightly.

I have about 5 fillings I think.

How many people seriously floss their teeth though?

  • 3 weeks later...

I've just had 4 wisdoms removed, one root canal and 6 fillings... Why? Because I left it 5.5 yrs after I was told my wisdoms needed to come out and they caused that much pressure in my mouth that they moved all my teeth, 7 of my teeth cracked and needed to be repaired, they took my top 2 out in the chair 2 weeks ago and they roots were hooked, my bottom 2 came out Tuesday in day surgery and they had to drill back into my jaw as my mouth isn't big enough and that's how far back my teeth were. They also had to cut through part of my cheek. My root canal gets the final cap next week and I now have to wear a plate because of the damage to my jaw from the pressure on my teeth. And to think, I've always looked after them perfectly and its because of how expensive wisdom tooth removal is that I didn't get them done earlier :(

I had 6 wisdom teeth removed, I am extra wise.

No in reality I am a mutant as only 1 in 200000 thousand people have them and it hurt like shit because in removing the extra 2 they cut a hole from my mouth into my sinus and had to cover the hole with skin from the inside of my cheek! That said my surgeon was pretty awesome I was eating real food after 3 days, had no bruising and didnt even miss a game of rugby!

Wow I feel sorry for you, drilling back into the jaw? I've never heard of that, sounds painful :/

I used to have poor teeth when I was a kid, had to have steel caps on about 4 teeth. I'm 22 now and I think I have about 6 fillings and 1 wisdom tooth is coming through. Only recently I've made sure I go to the dentist to get my checkup every 6 months.

Did they recommend a crown after RCT?

That's because there's less stress on the tooth > less chance of future fracturing. Costs 4 figures tho'

Then shoot the dentist :P

I've had the root canal for over 2 years now without a crown, couldnt afford it either. its holding up fine :)

i think they did all 4 roots in the tooth too. so there isnt really much tooth left. will get crowns when i got the cash..

or stem cell haha if it ever happens which no doubt will be within the next 10 years or so.. good bye to the high end dental industry when that happens

    • Hey guys. I have a 400R on its way to Australia from Japan currently and have a few questions I’m hoping others may be able to help with.   Wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting the Sat nav unit to work in Australia!? Assuming the Stereo is as simple as a band expanded and tv won’t work?  Seeing as they’re based off a Q50 which is Aus delivered is there any way to link that system to the nav? Nav modules and head unit are different part numbers and appear slightly different at the rear with plug ins etc. can I put my xtrail sd card into the rv37 and will that convert the maps or update to Australian? Has anyone got any advice here?     also has anyone fitted the factory remote start and Security system once it’s landed in Australia? I put an enquirey to Nissan Japan in via a third party, and they suggested it needs a Nissan Japan dealers device to setup and couldn’t guarantee if one here could do it or not. They can supply and I can physically fit it but to setup I would need a dealers device. Any information here would be appreciated also. I’ve seen one here with it fitted already prior to leaving Japan at a dealer/inporter, so clearly passes compliance and works when fitted Japan and doesn’t need changing here.      also, does the tyre inflation sensors work here? Does anything change with them when the vehicle arrives? Where are they actually situated? I’ve read they have batteries and they need to changing at times and seems like resetting involves the nav system?    any help here would be appreciated and any other aust specific information to help would be great. Looking forward to see what the current generation skyline is like and eager to see how many of the gadgets can be utilised here.  Thanks in advance
    • Do need to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the adapter failures, they clearly had setup issues with the flywheel.  One of the slipping ones I spoke to and it was pretty clear the throwout was riding, rather than fix, just swapped to a new clutch.    These clutches are being put in anything from 5k offroad 4x4 beaters, GR yaris, 500hp commodores to 1200hp barra monsters. Bound to be some issues in some of them when they are not a simple bolt in affair due to the changes in height.    There is a lot going on in this picture and unless I did the job myself no way to tell what really happened.
    • I did this mod in 2019  You just have to modify the top bracket of the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU so it sits more upright and closer to the back seat and run a good quality positive battery lead from the engine bay, the negative lead i just bolted down to the body in the boot.
    • Damn... Not the feedback I want to hear.
