Hey guys, I'm in the process of changing my Z32 from Power FC D-Jetro to Vipec.

One feature of the Power FC that I will miss is the hand controller display, and the ability to show peak duty cycle/water temp etc. Simple, but something I find myself using everytime I drive the car.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a display (with similar features) to use with the Vipec?

I know the AIM units are compatible, but entry level MyChron series is close to $1k and very bulky. I don't need lap timers etc, just something that will show me a digital readout similar to the Power FC controller.

Race Technology http://www.race-technology.com/display_products_8_921.html have some compatible units, but again hard to find something that fits my needs! The Dash 1 http://www.race-technology.com/dash1_8_939.html has everything I need (including alarms etc, and I like that it can display analogue signals too) BUT if I read correctly needs to be used with an external data logger. The Dash 2 http://www.race-technology.com/dash2_8_940.html seems to be OK for stand alone display but again very bulky.

I'm hoping to do a DIN slot install similar to the Microtech dash in thie car http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=8247469&keywords=Nissan 300zx&tsrc=allcarhome&__Ntk=CarAll&__Nne=15&__Dx=mode matchany&__D=Nissan 300zx&silo=1011&seot=1&__sid=1303D861374F&__N=1216 1246 1247 1252 1282&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&__Qpb=1&__Ntx=mode matchallpartial&Cr=12&__Ntt=Nissan 300zx&trecs=140

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Get onto the Vipec forum and see what people are using, if anything. Gives you a much wider group of people other than Skyline owners too.

There's no real need IMO for what you want, except perhaps to monitor water temps for your own knowledge. Even that is well catered for with Vipec capable of being setup to pull timing if your temps go up. Checking injector duty cycle is something you can do by reviewing some data logs that you can do.

Thanks mate I'll look into it.

Yeah I know the display is not a "must", but having that info in reatime on the Power FC has saved my arse once or twice before (had some teething type cooling issues) so it's something I want to hang on to if I can.

Thanks guys, exactly the response I was hoping for.

I'm still waiting for my email confirmation for the Vipec forums, but have decided that Link display is perfect for my needs.

Beer Baron -Mark at MRC Dyno in Castle Hill is doing my install, I'll let you know how much the display works out at.

They are not cheap (although this is in NZ$):

The DisplayLink is $900 +gst, when you order it let us know that it's for a G4 Plug-in and we will supply it with the correct cable.

If you want it to run on CAN (so that you can leave it plugged in while tuning) the ECu will need to have a serial number above 10,000 else it can be returned to us for a small hardware upgrade.

Regards

-Cameron

You can buy direct from the factory although they do not sell for less than the dealer price.

I just bought a dashDAQ http://www.dashdaq.com/features/gauges.htm an awesome product and you can customize it to show whatever you want. The best dash around in my opinion, plus it can data log. Customer support is fantastic as well.

Check it out on google. You can even design your own gauges with the provided program.

If you are interested give Dean a call at Just Engine Mangement JEM, they supply them and had great customer service as well especially considering I am in another state.
