I'm not going to even bother.

Try reading through this.

For the record, R34's have 5 studs already.

Woop de doo basil. where's your 1k to just whack a turbo on?

Its not that easy.

Its not that cheap.

Its not that smart.

and it is retarded.

1. Mods on N/A cars are not worth the money : kW outcome

2. Only real power = engine mods

3. Engine mods are illegal (points back to point 2)

4. Engine mods are expensive (points back to point 1)

5. Even if a turbo was bolted on, max power with awesome mods won't be greater than 300kW at the wheels

6. Value of the car stays the same, if not decreases because of the mods

7. If an RB25DET was dropped in, brakes, suspension, gear-box, clutch, ECU...etc...would all need to be upgraded which defeats the purpose of "cheap turbo"

8. I'm running out of single digit numbers

This man on the other hand,is smart and not retarded.

This debate has been had many times, there are pros and cons either way.

It's sad you had to resort to personal attacks over something like this LOL.

Although I have noticed that all, or most of the sz supras (the non turbo p plater friendly ones) that they are only 5 speed manual. What would the top speed be? and are there any real draw back, or any advantages to having a 5 spped manual over a 6 speed manual? cheers.

not that much different to the 6 speed gearbox since 5th gear on a 5 speed box will be taller than 5th gear on a 6 speed box. without looking up the actual ratios i'd say that it is nearly as tall as 6th gear. either way, you would never get close to hitting redline in 5th gear as it won't make enough power to overcome the wind resistance at that speed, and there is a good chance that with the taller 6th gear the top speed would actually be lower. even a turbo supra with mild mods would struggle to max out both the 5 and 6 speed gearboxes since the gear ratios would put it at about 250 to 260kmh.

unless you get all the parts second hand and dirt cheap and do a half arse job and only plan on running stock boost you won't convert a NA skyline to turbo for under $1000. this is a fact and if you have a good read through the thread you linked to you will see that i'm right

Gr8, thanks. so basically a 5 speed manual supra is the same as 6 speed, except the time spent in each gear will be slightly longer? (if that makes sense)?

Please show me this 1k mastery you speak of.

You would have to upgrade the braking system to GTST brakes, and i dont believe that just means calipers.

You would want to upgrade your hubs to 5 stud instead of 4 stud. then you would need a turbo diff and possibly a different stronger tailshaft.then comes a gearbox, you would be needing a turbo gearbox to handle the power because n/a gearboxes are not the same box and are weak.and after all this, you can't just bolt a turbo onto an n/a.you need new fuel pump, injectors, manifold, turbo, gaskets, ecu, intercooler, piping, new holes to be cut in the body for intercooler piping, bov, lower the compression and there ain't no guarantee of how long the setup would last.and after getting it all done and f**kin around, you have to get it engineered and modplated which can be a massive f**k around.

Or you sell an n/a for way more than its worth because of these laws to a kid that would like to drive a skylines on their P's and you buy a GTST/GTS25T/GT-T for less or as Much money as you sold the NA for and lo and behold it already has all the turbo gear already in it with nothing missing,no engine to take apart and no certificates and modplates to procure.

Hope this helps to the enth degree.

You buy a stocker turbo and chuck all the gear you've aqcuired onto it. Then sell the now stocker NA to another kid coming onto P's and the cycle repeats.

at the end of the day this kid doesnt know what he wants and will end up with whatever his parents give him

I already got what my parents gave me, the saab, I am trying to decide what to buy with the money ive been saving...

That's how its meant to go down.

Is your car a genuine gts25 33? What year was it imported. you are pretty lucky to have that car, they are no longer allowed to be imported afaik.

I dont know anything about what you can or cant drive on your P's and I am pretty new to the skyline scene, long time car enthusiest though, but have you considered a v35 skyline?

(sorry, thats from my phone)

I know that it is on a completely different tangent to a 33 or 34 and definitely not as tough but trust me, you will get more loving from the ladies in one, especially at your age. I think the na v35 would be quicker than the 33 or 34, not to mention the better interior etc.

Anyone is welcome to rip apart any of this because I really have extremely little Skyline knowledge.

Yeah that's one thing I don't like about the rest of the Silvia community

Why would you put 215's over 9.5 inch wide rims? Seriously

Just so we all keep our minds open, I used to setup and fabricate components for the Australian Sport Sedan series and we would do a lot of setup for guys who did club sprints and the odd trackday also. And we nearly always ran a stretched tyre on the track setups, as this assisted in the reduction of the time the tyre would "set" into load at initial turn in and improved steering response as a result, but it would still allowed the tyre to retain the radial compliance from an unchanged sidewall profile so as to not alter the straight line and corner stability through bumps.

Just some insight.

Funny you should mention this car. me and a mate went car searching (I was helping him find a car since he crashed his civic) and he ended up getting a 300gt (p platers cant drive 350gt). he got it with aftermarket rims for $15800, and it had only done something like 29000 km's. it has 191kw and it very nice inside and out. but in all honesy, I just do not like its size and its 'luxurious' interior. believe it or not, I hate luxury cars, I love the interior of a race/ sports car lol. were picking up the 300gt on wednesdya, so I will be able to give it a good drive then (hes letting me drive it), but ye, I appreciate the thought and recomendation, but I am not really into those cars. I know its a very safe car and all, just not my style. AND I know what you mean about it picking up ladies, thats why he wanted it  But I dont really care what appeal the next car I get is to the woman haha, I mean hey, girls dont mind my saab that im driving right now anyway :D

The GTS, RB20E models can't be imported any more. The GTS25 RB25DE models can though. Mine came in in 2001

    • Looking at finally painting and installing my R32 GTR wing I bought back in 2018. I got two quotes: Quote 1: $880 includes: wing, spare boot, holes welded up prep/paint. Pro: full boot with wing AND hole-less boot with lip i can swap between Con: $$  Quote 2: $330 wing only. Pro: cheaper Con: lose my (relatively) rare no holes sedan boot Also to consider I do plan on painting my whole car at some point "soon" (been saying that since 2018) Anyway Enjoy these All Japan Day 2025 pictures of my 4 door, still rocking the Calsonic Livery! Rolling in Interior shot Matching Peer Pressure Racing overalls are pretty cute ngl. This year was a hard 1990 cut so I got to be over with all the older cool stuff Next to arguably the best car there. A mighty S-Cargo
    • I personally would run 2x from the cam covers into the catch can, 1x sump vent to catch can (would mount this at a low point of the catch can, so it can also act as a drain). I would see if you can run a -12AN down there to improve venting and also draining. The head drain thing, just drain that back to the sump on the other side. Catch can to be vented, unless you plumb or back to the intake.
    • Yeah the head "drain" is rather a sump/crank case vent. My catch can stopped filling up after venting the sump to the catch can. I have 4x fittings in mine, which is about 5Ls. 2x cam, 1x sump vent/catch can drain, 1x fitting back to the intake and a massive breather which can be blocked so it's a fully sealed system.
    • Ok glad you clarified on the frenchy’s options , I was worried about if my oem hoses would fit the new compressor or not if I just bought the bracket/compressor kit ,  didn’t realize they also sold a larger full conversion kit. Hmm may just go oem in that case then to make it easy only because I plan to sell this car to upgrade to a 32 GTR or 34 GTT.
    • Right, here's a video of the basic operation at least.  This is what you can expect day to day when you turn the car on and it boots from standby.  The only thing from a media point of view I haven't gotten working is for it to autoplay plexamp when it turns on from standby (it works from cold boot) but that's more of a plexamp problem as it will autoplay other music players.  Also attached is my one stray cable.  It's part of the screen's wiring adapters but there's just nowhere for it to go in my car.  I've just now done a bit of research and found a matching port on a 2010-2014 head unit with BOSE.  Mine has no BOSE so that's that case pretty much closed I think.  Plugging in the Infiniti AC panel basically did nothing for me, so that's a dead end as well.  Next port of call is to mess with this CANBUS module and see what I can find from it.  I found this resource containing the DBC files for a 2010+ G37 : https://github.com/icecube45/Dash_InfinitiG37/blob/master/InfinitiG37.dbc I'll now have something to go from when I try to extract my CANBUS data so I can see if the HVAC Mode, Fan Speed, Temperature, etc. match and also the gear shifter position.  It's a pretty big assumption that it's just mismatched CAN signals but considering all the devices in the CAN network are talking to each other (AC can be fully adjusted just with no info on screen) it might be a safe one.  I will report back WhatsApp Video 2025-02-26 at 12.49.10.mp4
